06:03 <Lucifer> I'm about to put "Evil Triumvir" on my resume, is that good or bad?
06:07 <ct|kyle> well nothing really shows up on google "We could not understand the location "Evil Triumvir""
06:08 <ct|kyle> wait I found it on Armagetron forums
06:08 <ct|kyle> armagetron*
06:08 <Lucifer> well, the job title is in reference to arma on my resume
06:08 <ct|kyle> http://forums.armagetronad.net/viewtopic.php?p=30699#30699
06:09 <ct|kyle> google pulled that up
06:12 <GodTodd> oh...incidentally, Lucifer, any idea how come i still can't pull up your site?
06:12 <Lucifer> GodTodd: maybe nobody can?
06:12 <Lucifer> ct|kyle: can you see http://www.davefancella.com/ ?
06:14 <ct|kyle> Lucifer: no
06:14 <GodTodd> i'm just trying to make sure it's nothing on my end
06:15 <Lucifer> what do you get in a ping?
06:15 <Lucifer> maybe my IP address changed again, heh
06:16 <ct|kyle> 75.13.83.46
06:17 <Lucifer> hmmm, that's what the router says my ip address is
06:17 <Lucifer> can you telnet to it?
06:18 <ct|kyle> i can get to that IP through web just not http://www.davefancella.com/

06:25 <Lucifer_arma> GodTodd: wait a minute, what exactly is happening?
06:26 <Lucifer_arma> you're getting a timeout, right? Like the machine isn't there?
06:26 * Lucifer_arma recalls AT&T is having some serious technical difficulties
06:30 <ct|kyle> Lucifer_arma: ya, basically, but it answers quickly with the IP
06:33 <GodTodd> yep, what ct|kyle said

06:46 <Lucifer_arma> that site says it's up
06:46 * Lucifer_arma is bookmarking it
06:46 <ct|kyle> it does not work 100% of the time, but is a neat little troubleshooting tool
06:54 <Lucifer_arma> well, the accesses are in the access log, I don't know why the download of the page itself is failing

08:31 <@armabot> Lucifer: timed out
08:32 <GodTodd> still hanging while waiting for a reply
08:33 <Lucifer> well, I changed my setup a bit to see
08:33 <Lucifer> I put it on port 8080, and I moved the second router out of the dmz, and forwarded port 8080 from the first router to port 80 on the second
08:33 <Lucifer> I get a big difference here, firefox doesn't immediately say it can't download the webpage, it's hanging while waiting too
08:34 <Lucifer> otherwise, the server says it's sending
08:34 <GodTodd> hmmm

08:42 <Lucifer> GodTodd: can you hit me with an ssh attempt?
08:43 <Lucifer> just see if you can get a login prompt?
08:45 <GodTodd> at the www.davefancella.com?
08:45 <Lucifer> yeah
08:46 <Lucifer> just ssh www.davefancella.com
08:46 <Lucifer> or ssh dave@www.davefancella.com is fine too
08:46 <GodTodd> nothing so far
08:47 * Lucifer really thinks this is part of the problem that AT&T has been experiencing yesterday that might be linked to what akira_arma linked us to
08:47 <GodTodd> it's possible
08:48 <GodTodd> i can access your site (the "it works!" page at least) by ip but not by url
08:48 <GodTodd> yeah, ssh is just hanging
08:48 <Lucifer> hmmmm
08:48 <Lucifer> why by IP, I wonder?
08:49 <GodTodd> that's what the real headscratcher is
08:53 <Lucifer> GodTodd: what does the IP get you now?
08:54 <GodTodd> hanging
08:54 <Lucifer> heh
08:54 <GodTodd> i can even ping the url successfully
08:54 <Lucifer> ok, try again with the ip address
08:54 <GodTodd> yeah, ip is working again now
08:54 <Lucifer> ahhh, that's very telling
08:59 <GodTodd> fwiw, luciferarma.kicks-ass.net works
08:59 <Lucifer> does it?
08:59 <GodTodd> yep
09:00 <GodTodd> goes to the same place as the ip
09:00 <Lucifer> try it again :)
09:00 <GodTodd> hanging now :)
09:01 <Lucifer> that means something, but what?
09:01 <GodTodd> exactly :)
09:02 <GodTodd> kinda points a bit away from an outage, tho.
09:02 <Lucifer> how about now
09:02 <Lucifer> yeah, points away from network problems entirely, and right back to apache'
09:02 <Lucifer> but now I'm having the weird mime problems I was having yesterday that prompted hooking up the second router
09:02 <GodTodd> hanging
09:02 <GodTodd> hrmm
09:03 <Lucifer> one more time
09:03 <Lucifer> what do you get with the IP address?
09:03 * Lucifer is trying to make his own website show up for the IP address
09:04 <GodTodd> both are hanging right now
09:04 <Lucifer> what's in the default vhost that makes it work?
09:05 <GodTodd> davefancella.com is just a cname off of luciferarma isn't it?
09:05 <Lucifer> yes
09:05 <GodTodd> so...the main domain was working but the cname forwarding isn't
09:06 * GodTodd thinks out loud often. ;)
09:06 <GodTodd> *but* we're able to ping the cname
09:07 <Lucifer> *was working
09:08 <Lucifer> but it wasn't turning up my website, it was the default website
09:08 <Lucifer> disable the default website, and it stops working
09:08 <luke-jr> Lucifer: come play TWG in my Arma server? ;p

09:24 <luke-jr> Lucifer: sounds like MTU again
09:24 <Lucifer> luke-jr: indeed, we're headed back to those same network problems
09:24 <luke-jr> you should be able to cap it on your local PC too
09:24 <luke-jr> ifconfig eth0 mtu 1400
09:24 <luke-jr> try that on the server

09:29 <luke-jr> Lucifer: so now it's confirmed MTU issue, and the next step is to fix the router ;p
09:29 <Lucifer> it looks like I'm fixed again, for now, heh
09:29 <luke-jr> … or just set the computers' MTUs
09:29 <Lucifer> ok, what do you get for these?
09:29 <luke-jr> and let the MTU be your anti-wardriver tool
09:29 <Lucifer> http://75.13.83.46
09:30 <Lucifer> http://www.davefancella.com/
09:30 <Lucifer> http://www.toddmacy.com/
09:30 <luke-jr> It works!
09:30 <luke-jr> Dave Fancella
09:30 <luke-jr> Todd Macy
09:30 <luke-jr> GodTodd: Lucifer's site looks nicer
09:30 <Lucifer> heh
09:31 <Lucifer> you're just saying that because I use obviously KDE graphics for it :)
09:31 <GodTodd> luke-jr, i haven't worked on mine in many months
09:31 <luke-jr> Lucifer: is that what it is? ☺
09:31 * Lucifer has spent the last 5 hours or so working on his
09:31 <luke-jr> I thought it was GodTodd's blaring red highlights and moving text
09:31 <GodTodd> i think he's just hot for your pic
09:32 <Lucifer> apparently
09:32 <Lucifer> I was going to redo my site in my tron colors
09:32 <Lucifer> then I got distracted with the rain pic
09:32 <luke-jr> what are "tron colors"?
09:32 <Lucifer> the colors I use when I play arma
09:34 <luke-jr> anyhow, I'm stupid and stayed up too late; I need to be up in 5.5 hrs
09:34 <luke-jr> night
09:34 <Lucifer> you're finally right about a whole lot of things at once!
09:35 <luke-jr> …
09:35 <luke-jr> or maybe I was always right and your wife blinded you of it
09:35 * luke-jr runs
09:36 <Lucifer> that could only happen in a universe where a = 0 is false, seeing as how you and she agree on so many things
09:36 <Lucifer> :)
09:36 <Lucifer> er
09:36 <Lucifer> that could only happen in a universe where a = a is false, seeing as how you and she agree on so many things
09:37 <GodTodd> so, basically, my site sucks because of the top navigation buttons?
09:37 <luke-jr> not-invented-here; if *she* didn't think of it, it must be wrong until she does? >.>
09:37 <GodTodd> heh
09:37 <luke-jr> GodTodd: that was what stood out to me
09:37 <Lucifer> luke-jr: yep, that's how she is
09:38 <Lucifer> GodTodd: yeah, but yo udon't have to "fix" it, so much as throw a big, tacky yellow ribbon under all the content on every page, and you'll be "patriotic" instead of "color uncoordinated"
09:38 <luke-jr> so a=a is false until she discovers it true ☺
09:38 <luke-jr> LOL
09:39 <Lucifer> luke-jr: no, the expanded statement is this:
09:39 <Lucifer> only in a universe where a=b is true, and b=c is true, but a != c
09:39 <Lucifer> where b is the idea you and she agree on, you are a, she is c
09:39 <Lucifer> in our universe, of course, a=c
09:39 <GodTodd> ummm...how is red and blue "color uncoordinated"?
09:39 <Lucifer> GodTodd: because outside of flags, those two colors clash :)
09:40 <Lucifer> they clash so badly that some people will actually wear one color while shooting people who wear the other!
09:40 <GodTodd> heh
09:45 <GodTodd> probably should make it green instead of red
09:49 <Lucifer> yes, you probably should
09:49 <Lucifer> er
09:50 <luke-jr> or invent a new colour
09:50 <Lucifer> hmmm, I've had a hard time trying to design a site around blue as a core color
09:53 <Lucifer> hmmmm
09:54 <GodTodd> yeah, i've thought about rethinking the color scheme
09:54 <GodTodd> i don't want to go too blah but i want it readable and all
09:54 <Lucifer> heh
09:54 <Lucifer> my site *used* to be built around blue
09:55 <Lucifer> I managed to make it work eventually, but it took a few years for it to finally come together
09:55 <Lucifer> was a lot of work
09:55 <Lucifer> my second green layout worked well very quickly
09:55 <GodTodd> i like having the "paper" effect on the reading parts
09:55 <Lucifer> maybe I just see green better, though
09:55 <GodTodd> so i don't want all white and all
09:56 <Lucifer> I hate all white websites
09:56 <GodTodd> me too
09:56 <Lucifer> I've really liked the style I've been working with the last couple of years, where I put a frame built with images around the content
09:56 <GodTodd> perhaps a green hue would be better
09:56 <Lucifer> and the content is a flat color
09:56 <Lucifer> try mixing it up a bit first, heh :)
09:56 <GodTodd> mixing it up?
09:56 <Lucifer> well, wait
09:57 <Lucifer> can you ssh to my machine?
09:57 <GodTodd> not sure
09:57 <Lucifer> ssh dave@www.davefancella.com and see
09:57 <Lucifer> just try to get a login
09:57 <Lucifer> prompt
09:57 <GodTodd> nothing
10:00 <Lucifer> nothing? no login prompt?
10:00 <Lucifer> er, maybe I didn't start a ssh server
10:02 <GodTodd> nope, no prompt
10:03 <Lucifer> oh yeah, heh, sorry
10:05 <Lucifer> ssh is port 23, right?
10:07 <GodTodd> i think so
10:07 <GodTodd> er, no, 22 maybe

10:22 <Lucifer_arma> if you can login with ssh, what you'll do is this:

10:23 <Lucifer_arma> then use rsync to copy it to the server
10:23 <Lucifer_arma> then you can go ahead and update it

• Website was created by nelg
• Design:
» Layout is loosely based on an old design by Durf.
» Icons on the tools page were originally by Royce, new icons added will try to follow some of the design language.
» Various other icon selections include icons from Crystal, crystalsvg, oxygen, and breeze icon themes.
» Other icons: fontawesome

is a site that has tools, maps, and other various items. It orignally only existed as a server control panel, but I slowly began adding stuff such as a homepage and tools.

This is an LLM-free zone. In general, I am unwilling to use (fight with) any form of "GenAI" to write code for me. So, for the forseeable future, everything on this site will continue to be written by a very silly goose (wait that's me honk honk) with some parts written by other humans as well (silly hu-mon) rather than any plausible-series-of-words token-eating machine. Even my libraries are out of date, and suddenly that's a good thing!
(Although the style has changed several times and content has been added and changed, the base of this site has barely been updated since 2015. But it Ain't Broke!)
This site is also occasionally tested with older browsers, but compatibility is not guarenteed. Although, if you have an old obscure browser and something isn't working that previously did, I guess you can tell me (nelg) about it...
