01:38 <Lucifer_arma> well, they replaced the multimeter with a slightly different model
01:38 <Lucifer_arma> it has the same features, but isn't the one I picked exactly. It uses different batteries and came with a temperature probe :)
01:38 <Lucifer_arma> (no extra charge, so I don't really care, but if it was a slightly cheaper model, I might be a tad irritated)
01:45 <Lucifer_arma> oh good, the voltage regulator I need for this power supply is only 99 cents
01:50 * NeoThermic ponders what Lucifer_arma is hacking today
01:50 -!- Stewie-arma [n=Stewie-a@cpe-72-130-168-207.san.res.rr.com] has joined #armagetron
01:50 <Lucifer_arma> heh
01:50 <Lucifer_arma> about to hack open an old amp
01:50 <Lucifer_arma> well, maybe not right this minute
01:51 <Lucifer_arma> http://sound.westhost.com/project44.htm <--- I want to build that
01:51 <NeoThermic> #weather 93555
01:51 <armabot> NeoThermic: The current temperature in China Lake, California is 105.8°F (3:56 PM PDT on August 24, 2007). Conditions: Clear. Humidity: 5%. Dew Point: 21.2°F. Pressure: 29.67 in 1005 hPa (Falling).
01:51 <NeoThermic> woo, I win :)
01:51 <Lucifer_arma> first. so I can use it to power some other things that I want to build before I build the power supplies for those
01:51 <Lucifer_arma> #weather 78717
01:51 <armabot> Lucifer_arma: The current temperature in Meadows of Brushy Creek, Austin, Texas is 87.6°F (6:56 PM CDT on August 24, 2007). Conditions: Scattered Clouds. Humidity: 52%. Dew Point: 68.0°F. Pressure: 29.80 in 1009.0 hPa (Steady).
01:51 <Lucifer_arma> nah, you lose. only 5% humidity? Man, that's nothing
01:51 <NeoThermic> yes, but that means it's pure hot heat
01:52 <Lucifer_arma> actually, it's a bit cooler today than it should be for this time of year
01:52 <NeoThermic> not humid heat
01:52 <NeoThermic> which is ace
01:52 -!- Stewie-arma [n=Stewie-a@cpe-72-130-168-207.san.res.rr.com] has quit [Client Quit]
01:52 <NeoThermic> since if you get out of direct sunlight, you can cool down
01:52 <Lucifer_arma> right, which means your body's cooling system works pretty efficiently, provided you don't do anything stupid like take your shirt off
01:52 <Lucifer_arma> but in 52% humidity, it's not as bad as it could be, but it's still a bit nasty
01:53 <NeoThermic> we do get humid days
01:53 <Lucifer_arma> normally we should be high 90s with 60-80% humidity this time of year
01:53 <NeoThermic> but like
01:53 <NeoThermic> only once in a rare bule green orange moon
01:53 <NeoThermic> *blue
01:53 <Lucifer_arma> heh, we rarely drop below 50% :)
01:53 * Lucifer_arma mumbles a bit about how the humidity rating we get isn't any sort of real measurement of how much water's in the air
01:53 <NeoThermic> we also get, on average, 355 days with visible sunlight a year :P
01:54 <NeoThermic> (as in enough to scortch the sun tracker paper :P
01:54 <NeoThermic> )
01:54 <Lucifer_arma> yeah, that's cool
01:54 <Lucifer_arma> we get lots of sunlight, but I wouldn't want to try to guess at how many days of sunlight, because we do get a lot of clouds blowing over us
01:54 <Lucifer_arma> problem is, they blow over us
01:54 <Lucifer_arma> they form somewhere else, then drop somewhere else
01:55 <NeoThermic> we get nothing
01:55 <Lucifer_arma> but like I said, it's been a weird summer. We got flooded, temperatures have been down, etc.
01:55 <NeoThermic> we're in a rain shadow
01:55 <NeoThermic> so no cloud, no rain, no snow, just sunlight :P
01:55 <Lucifer_arma> here's what I don't get, where do these clouds finally drop their rain?
01:55 <NeoThermic> our clouds drop them on the mountains that surround us
01:55 <Lucifer_arma> they don't drop it north of us, unless it's all the way up into canada, because the great plains don't get very much rain either
01:55 <Lucifer_arma> we don't have any mountains around us!
01:56 <Lucifer_arma> they don't drop to the west, that's west texas, which is almost as dry as southern california
01:56 <NeoThermic> http://www.neothermic.com/photography/DSCN0751.jpg
01:56 <Lucifer_arma> heh, I played flightgear using the sanfran airport and flew into the mountains
01:56 <Lucifer_arma> it was awesome
01:56 <NeoThermic> hehe
01:56 <Lucifer_arma> those mountains are some of the only mountains flightgear has that have textures
01:57 <Lucifer_arma> besides the default tiled green (which makes the grand canyon look a little odd)
01:58 <NeoThermic> http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&ll=35.620932,-117.675749&spn=0.752409,1.2854&t=h&z=10&om=1
01:58 <NeoThermic> thats the kind of mountain we get
02:01 <Lucifer_arma> doesn't look impressive from this view, heh
02:02 <Lucifer_arma> it's ok, though
02:02 <Lucifer_arma> I looked at the organ mountains in google maps, and they look positively wussy
02:02 <NeoThermic> yeah, it's just desert and mountians :P
02:02 <Lucifer_arma> but when you're driving into them on US 65, they look pretty intimidating
02:02 <Lucifer_arma> even so, they're kinda wussy mountains anyway
02:03 <Lucifer_arma> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organ_Mountains <--- the Las Cruces side of them
02:04 <Lucifer_arma> er, I guess that highway is 70, not 65
02:04 <Lucifer_arma> oh yeah, 65 goes into the sacramento mountins

04:14 <GodTodd> Lucifer_arma: 1000?
04:14 <Lucifer_arma> that's what I thought :)
04:15 <Lucifer_arma> either all of my electrolytic capacitors are bad, this multimeter can't properly measure them, or I'm doing something wrong
04:15 <Lucifer_arma> I'm getting good reasons on the ceramic capacitors, though
04:15 <ghableska> nano is 10^-9, right?
04:15 <tramshed> anyone here familiar with phpsysinfo?
04:16 <Lucifer_arma> but I've tested 4 electrolytic caps and I keep getting different readings for each one (multiple different readings on each one)

This is an LLM-free zone. In general, I am unwilling to use (fight with) any form of "GenAI" to write code for me. So, for the forseeable future, everything on this site will continue to be written by a very silly goose (wait that's me honk honk) with some parts written by other humans as well (silly hu-mon) rather than any plausible-series-of-words token-eating machine. Even my libraries are out of date, and suddenly that's a good thing!
(Although the style has changed several times and content has been added and changed, the base of this site has barely been updated since 2015. But it Ain't Broke!)
This site is also occasionally tested with older browsers, but compatibility is not guarenteed. Although, if you have an old obscure browser and something isn't working that previously did, I guess you can tell me (nelg) about it...
