00:00 <\u03b5> because we would only have to review it one time, and not every time you make a change
00:01 <iloafk> ah ok, I thought review could also be done by commit
00:01 <iloafk> thank you, all your start up help is really much appreciated
00:02 <\u03b5> that'd be a lot of work for us

04:28 <compguygene> hi, i have a question about a problem that i appear to be having with custom connecting to a server that i am running that shows on the master list
04:29 <noob13> hi compguygene
04:29 <compguygene> hi
04:29 <compguygene> how have you been?
04:30 <noob13> great, as always. yourself?
04:30 <compguygene> ok
04:30 <compguygene> i just seem to be having difficulty forming a custom connect to my NY ladle server
04:30 <compguygene> i can connect via the master list
04:31 <compguygene> and have verified the port IP address and dns
04:31 <compguygene> when i attempt to custom connect, the client times out after the 10 second default
04:31 <compguygene> however
04:31 <compguygene> the server seems to see the client
04:32 <compguygene> the following was what appeared on the server console as i tried to connect
04:33 <compguygene> 1 TS=2009/12/05-22:16:12] Received login from 98.16.102.61:61919 via socket *.*.*.*:4551, network version: 0.2.8.3_beta2 (ID: 16).

04:33 <compguygene> [2 TS=2009/12/05-22:16:17] New user: 2
04:33 <compguygene> the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxx being my IP address that i was connecting from
04:33 <compguygene> any ideas?
04:34 <noob13> and via server browser it worked?
04:34 <compguygene> yes
04:34 <compguygene> that's what is confusing me
04:34 <compguygene> I also did verify that ports are open, and i can see the arma server running on the proper ports
04:35 <noob13> perhaps the port you've configured is already taken, causing the server to jump to the next one.
04:35 <compguygene> and i can connect via the server browser and play
04:35 <noob13> ah, hm...
04:35 <compguygene> i checked that as well
04:35 <compguygene> i even allowed the server to self select another open port
04:35 <compguygene> same thing happened
04:36 <dlh> Is it the ladle server, compguygene?
04:36 <noob13> whats the ip:port to you server, i'll give it a try
04:38 <dlh> Oh, nvm. read up
04:38 <dlh> compguygene: ny.theserverpharm.net resolves to 66.45.244.50. The address from the master server is 66.45.244.54.
04:39 <noob13> that might explain it :P
04:39 <compguygene> ahhh
04:39 <compguygene> that might
04:40 <ct|kyle> I was going to ask that
04:40 <compguygene> i saw that on the server browser
04:40 <compguygene> and yes it is the ladle server [NY}
04:40 * ct|kyle needs to make sure the CT servers are up to date and working
04:40 <compguygene> do i need to specify the SERVER_DNS?
04:40 <luke-jr> my little boy cries like a girl -.-
04:41 * compguygene waves hi to luke!
04:41 <dlh> .cfg SERVER_DNS
04:41 * luke-jr poisons compguygene's tea.
04:41 <tronner> dlh: SERVER_DNS: If your server is on dynamic IP and you set up a dynamic DNS that always points to it, you can set this variable to the DNS name to help clients remember your server across IP changes. (default: )
04:41 <luke-jr> j/k <.<
04:41 <dlh> Is it a dynamic IP, compguygene?
04:41 <ct|kyle> compguygene: we were going to put one of your servers for the secondary in finals, but I did not know which one would be better
04:41 <compguygene> no
04:41 <compguygene> the ny2 one would be best
04:42 <dlh> No need to use SERVER_DNS then
04:42 <ct|kyle> too late now, but let us know for next time
04:42 <compguygene> it is a static IP, running on a true dedicated server, in a data center
04:42 <compguygene> well
04:42 <compguygene> the ny1 server is good, other than the current custom connect problem
04:43 <compguygene> i thought i did not need to specify a SERVER_DNS
04:43 <dlh> You just need to update your DNS records to point to the correct place. Nothing needs configuration in arma
04:43 <compguygene> well
04:44 <compguygene> i just did, so perhaps the change needs to propagate first
04:44 <compguygene> but
04:44 <compguygene> my concern is this
04:44 <ct|kyle> dlh: so for liv.crazy-tronners.com I can just set SERVER_IP for the server and everything will work fine?
04:45 <compguygene> if i try to custom connect to the ip address, it does come up with the problem
04:45 <dlh> .cfg SERVER_IP
04:45 <tronner> dlh: SERVER_IP: IP the server listens on (default: ANY)

is a site that has tools, maps, and other various items. It orignally only existed as a server control panel, but I slowly began adding stuff such as a homepage and tools.

This is an LLM-free zone. In general, I am unwilling to use (fight with) any form of "GenAI" to write code for me. So, for the forseeable future, everything on this site will continue to be written by a very silly goose (wait that's me honk honk) with some parts written by other humans as well (silly hu-mon) rather than any plausible-series-of-words token-eating machine. Even my libraries are out of date, and suddenly that's a good thing!
(Although the style has changed several times and content has been added and changed, the base of this site has barely been updated since 2015. But it Ain't Broke!)
This site is also occasionally tested with older browsers, but compatibility is not guarenteed. Although, if you have an old obscure browser and something isn't working that previously did, I guess you can tell me (nelg) about it...
