14:47 <z-man-work> epsy: yeah. The purpose of access_level_op_max is just to protect against mistakes, if you later promote someone, it is supposed you know what you're doing.
14:50 <joda_bot> z-man-work: epsy: So instead of MAX the name is rather ACCESS_LEVEL_OP_REMOTE_MAX ?
14:50 <z-man-work> No, but what you want would be ACCESS_LEVEL_PROMOTE_MAX.
14:51 <epsy> z-man-work, so i should ignore it when someone *promotes* a player with the /op command
14:51 <epsy> right?
14:51 <z-man-work> Ah, oh, I forgot that's possible too
14:52 <z-man-work> maybe /promote and /demote should be completely removed.

14:52 <z-man-work> and /op should get the shuffle syntax.
14:52 <epsy> yeah
14:52 <z-man-work> and respect OP_MAX, of course.

19:19 <K-Yo> woot
19:20 <K-Yo> one map per minute :P
19:26 <noob7> map rotation ;)
19:26 <noob7> just differently places flags
19:27 <noob7> and I guess the last two maps are named wrong? :o
19:29 <wrtlprnft> no
19:30 <wrtlprnft> although there's two problems that don't matter too much right now:
19:30 <wrtlprnft> first, you're uploading different maps under the same map, so there isn't a “newest and best” version
19:31 <wrtlprnft> second, your name part contains a dash, which is bad because it makes it impossible to read the name and version just from the filename
19:31 <noob7> ok so underline instead of dash and version number in the name then, right? :)
19:32 <wrtlprnft> yeah, that would be good
19:32 <wrtlprnft> maybe don't call it a version number, maybe “variation number” might be good
19:33 <noob7> a-z instead of numbering maybe too? :P
19:33 <wrtlprnft> if you like
19:33 <wrtlprnft> it's your choice what you do :-)
19:34 <noob7> yay \o/

20:54 <madmax> CTF is finally somewhat fun
20:54 <madmax> but put a disable high rim motd or something :-P
20:55 <noob7> redoing the maps atm :)
21:00 <Flex> is pacman any fun?
21:00 <noob7> the classic game? Oo
21:00 <Flex> no the arma version
21:00 <noob7> well it didnt end the way it was planned :D but if you can trust madmax it is :)
21:01 <Flex> oh, what happened..
21:01 <Flex> what was the idea?
21:01 <noob7> well... 1:1 pacman clone
21:01 <noob7> :D
21:01 <Flex> have you thought about doing a kind of zombie mod using the pacman idea
21:02 <Flex> like once touched/killed you change team to "zombie team"
21:02 <Flex> so then you can kinda get a pacman team game going
21:02 <noob7> I had a max of 4 players and equally many zombies in mind, I might still work on that idea, Pacman CTF first :)
21:04 <madmax> CTF with cycle_delay 0.1 and no rubber = good
21:04 <Flex> what about it starts off with everyone alive and randomly choosing 1 zombie, and he has to duplicate by killing everyone else
21:05 <Flex> it's highly additive :p
21:05 <noob13> :O
21:06 <Flex> well kill would turn him into a zombie spawn, here he'll spawn at the zombie box
21:06 <Flex> or whatever
21:06 <Flex> if they suicide they turn into a zombie too
21:09 <noob7> flex, maybe you wanna spam me with these ideas via PM, imma go cook something :)
21:09 <Flex> that was basically all i had :p
21:09 <Flex> but what do you think?
21:10 <noob7> nothing yet, need to eat first :P
21:10 <Flex> lol ok, get back to me :)
21:10 <noob13> hm..i wouldn't know how to pull that off..
21:10 <noob13> has it been done before?
21:10 <Flex> i dunno, but i'm sure it's possible

22:53 <K-Yo> emphasis, where are you?
22:53 <wrtlprnft> noob13: I'd use AATeam/map-0.2.8.0_pig2.dtd
22:54 <wrtlprnft> noob13: that works even without you putting it onto a special resource repository
22:54 <wrtlprnft> at least until some sleepy guy figures out what happened
22:55 <noob13> ok, thanks wrtlprnft.
22:55 <noob13> thats what we had before though
22:56 <noob13> and some ppl have said they get an error message because of it
22:56 <noob7> and some people clients were bitching
22:56 <noob7> indeed
22:56 <wrtlprnft> well, if you really want to be sure set up your own resource repository
22:56 <wrtlprnft> put the DTD into a dir named after you, like SSOAN
22:56 <wrtlprnft> and reference that
22:57 <wrtlprnft> there's generally a problem with luke-jr's DNS, it is slow and doesn't work for a whole lot of people, even if he tells us otherwise all the time
22:57 <noob13> right..
22:57 <noob7> hmkay, then lets try with AATeam/ first shall we 13?
22:58 <wrtlprnft> you might also try RESOURCE_REPOSITORY_SERVER http://resource.armagetron.at/resource/
22:58 <noob7> armagetron.at ? Oo
22:58 <wrtlprnft> it's a mirror that updates regularily and redirects to the real repository on 404
22:58 <noob7> ah ok
22:59 <wrtlprnft> and if it has the file it's totally independent of luke-jr's DNS
22:59 <noob7> how often does it update itself's repository?
22:59 <noob13> ..or can we upload to it directly?
23:00 <wrtlprnft> sec, gotta check on that
23:00 <wrtlprnft> every full hour
23:00 <noob7> ok, dang a couple minutes late :P
23:01 <wrtlprnft> but as I said, if the file isn't there it just redirects to luke-jr's repo
23:01 <noob7> ok then shall we try that 13?
23:01 <noob7> I'll upload the edited maps to the original repo again and you edit the cfgs ?
23:02 <noob7> thanks wrtlprnft :)
23:02 <noob13> yea ok..
23:02 <noob13> although we have to wait an hour?
23:03 <noob7> no, aa.at redirects to the original repo if the file isnt mirrored yet
23:03 <wrtlprnft> tell me when you're done, i'll run a manual update
23:03 <noob7> cool, even better

This is an LLM-free zone. In general, I am unwilling to use (fight with) any form of "GenAI" to write code for me. So, for the forseeable future, everything on this site will continue to be written by a very silly goose (wait that's me honk honk) with some parts written by other humans as well (silly hu-mon) rather than any plausible-series-of-words token-eating machine. Even my libraries are out of date, and suddenly that's a good thing!
(Although the style has changed several times and content has been added and changed, the base of this site has barely been updated since 2015. But it Ain't Broke!)
This site is also occasionally tested with older browsers, but compatibility is not guarenteed. Although, if you have an old obscure browser and something isn't working that previously did, I guess you can tell me (nelg) about it...
