02:48 <luke-jr> any idea why 65.18.192.127:4538 isn't on the master list?
02:49 <ct|kyle> because PING_FLOOOD_BAN
02:49 <luke-jr> …
02:50 <ct|kyle> it happened to CTWF when i set those way too high

03:25 <SmoothIcE> How do you make a CTF server?
03:26 <SmoothIcE> Is anyone here?
03:26 <luke-jr> SmoothIcE: there are many ways
03:27 <luke-jr> the cheapest is to patch 0.2.8 yourself and compile a new binary
03:27 <ct|kyle> the best way is to JFGI
03:27 <luke-jr> but it's also fairly difficult if you don't know how to work with code
03:27 <SmoothIcE> so "cheapest" meaning it costs money?
03:27 <hoax> http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php?title=CTF
03:27 <hoax> aparently
03:27 <luke-jr> no, that way just "costs" time and skill
03:28 <SmoothIcE> o
03:28 <SmoothIcE> oh
03:28 <SmoothIcE> is there a way to do it without much experience
03:28 <luke-jr> the "easy" way would be to buy hosting service with me ;)
03:28 <SmoothIcE> and you host CTFs?
03:28 <luke-jr> sure
03:28 <SmoothIcE> oh cool
03:29 <luke-jr> not sure if anyone's actually using CTF mode right now, but I support it
03:29 <SmoothIcE> oh
03:29 <SmoothIcE> well
03:29 <SmoothIcE> im looking for a personal solution
03:29 <SmoothIcE> could you guide me in the right direction?
03:29 <hoax> ctf is laggy enough without it being hosted by luke
03:29 <luke-jr> are you using Linux?
03:29 <SmoothIcE> I can do any platform
03:29 <SmoothIcE> except windows
03:30 <SmoothIcE> but
03:30 <SmoothIcE> the answer is yes
03:30 <luke-jr> ok, well Windows would be a royal pain
03:30 <SmoothIcE> Ok, well i use linux then
03:30 <luke-jr> cool
03:30 <luke-jr> do you have a general idea how to compile Arma?
03:30 <SmoothIcE> not really, but I do have general knowledge with command line and source code
03:30 <SmoothIcE> if that helps
03:31 <luke-jr> http://luke.dashjr.org/tmp/pigsty-061021-ljr5.patch.bz2 is the patch you'll need
03:31 <SmoothIcE> Ok, downloaded.
03:31 <luke-jr> I'm not sure if it applies cleanly to 0.2.8.2.1
03:32 <luke-jr> but latest 0.2.8 in Svn is unstable, so if not, I'd suggest looking for an old rev that is sane
03:32 <luke-jr> #svn
03:32 <armabot> svn co https://armagetronad.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/armagetronad/armagetronad/trunk/armagetronad <dirname>(more information: http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php/Working_with_SVN)
03:32 <luke-jr> svn co https://armagetronad.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/armagetronad/armagetronad/branches/0.2.8/armagetronad -r 7731
03:32 <luke-jr> that one might be sane
03:32 <luke-jr> not sure
03:33 <SmoothIcE> so how do I download that stuff and apply the patch
03:33 <ct|kyle> http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php?title=Sty
03:33 <SmoothIcE> Oh
03:33 <luke-jr> 8301 is what I have on my CT server
03:33 <SmoothIcE> that will help
03:33 <luke-jr> type: svn co https://armagetronad.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/armagetronad/armagetronad/branches/0.2.8/armagetronad -r 7731
03:33 <luke-jr> err
03:33 <luke-jr> type: svn co https://armagetronad.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/armagetronad/armagetronad/branches/0.2.8/armagetronad -r 8301
03:33 <luke-jr> that will download the code into an 'armagetronad' dir
03:33 <luke-jr> cd armagetronad
03:34 <luke-jr> bzip2 -d < pigsty-061021-ljr5.patch.bz2 | patch -p0
03:34 <luke-jr> that will attempt to patch the code
03:34 <luke-jr> if it fails, let me know by pasting your errors to http://rafb.net/paste
03:34 <SmoothIcE> ok
03:34 <luke-jr> once you have that done, ./configure --disable-glout && make run
03:34 <luke-jr> then you have a CTF server running
03:35 <SmoothIcE> Is all of that on the WIki page
03:35 <ct|kyle> somewhere
03:35 <luke-jr> SmoothIcE: wiki page looks to only use old pigsty patches
03:36 <SmoothIcE> oh
03:36 <luke-jr> I'm too lazy to update it, and I'm not sure how I'd get the bzr branch thing updated with the more recent patch anyway
03:36 <ct|kyle> same diff just get luke-jr's
03:36 <luke-jr> actually, not quite the same since mine isn't in a ZIP, it's bzip2
03:37 <luke-jr> but the commands I said here should work
03:37 <SmoothIcE> so should I save this chat and refer to it later
03:37 <luke-jr> sure
03:37 <luke-jr> oh, and 'make install' is probably a bad idea in general compared with 'make run' or packages
03:37 * luke-jr ponders adding a pigsty USE flag to the Gentoo ebuilds
03:38 <ct|kyle> why zip do you really think anyone in thier right mind would use windows for a CTF tron server
03:38 <SmoothIcE> so if you hosted a CTF server for someone, where would i get information
03:39 <luke-jr> ct|kyle: uh, the old patch is ZIP, not mine
03:39 <luke-jr> mien is bzip2 :þ
03:40 <luke-jr> SmoothIcE: ?
03:40 <SmoothIcE> ya?
03:40 <ct|kyle> oh
03:41 <luke-jr> SmoothIcE: English? :þ
03:41 <SmoothIcE> nevermind

• Website was created by nelg
• Design:
» Layout is loosely based on an old design by Durf.
» Icons on the tools page were originally by Royce, new icons added will try to follow some of the design language.
» Various other icon selections include icons from Crystal, crystalsvg, oxygen, and breeze icon themes.
» Other icons: fontawesome

is a site that has tools, maps, and other various items. It orignally only existed as a server control panel, but I slowly began adding stuff such as a homepage and tools.

This is an LLM-free zone. In general, I am unwilling to use (fight with) any form of "GenAI" to write code for me. So, for the forseeable future, everything on this site will continue to be written by a very silly goose (wait that's me honk honk) with some parts written by other humans as well (silly hu-mon) rather than any plausible-series-of-words token-eating machine. Even my libraries are out of date, and suddenly that's a good thing!
(Although the style has changed several times and content has been added and changed, the base of this site has barely been updated since 2015. But it Ain't Broke!)
This site is also occasionally tested with older browsers, but compatibility is not guarenteed. Although, if you have an old obscure browser and something isn't working that previously did, I guess you can tell me (nelg) about it...
