06:00 <Lucifer> man, I'm fuckin' hungry
06:00 <Lucifer> my wife cooked cheese pizza for dinner, and I refuse to eat it
06:00 <GodTodd> portuguese it should be
06:00 <GodTodd> why's that?
06:00 <Lucifer> it's better to go hungry than to eat cheese pizza
06:00 <GodTodd> hrmm...okie
06:00 <Lucifer> pizza with lots of toppings is only marginally decent anyway
06:00 <GodTodd> my pizza rocks
06:00 <GodTodd> :P
06:01 <Lucifer> not talking about taste here, talking about worthwhile eating :)
06:01 <Lucifer> I'm considering pulling out the thawed chicken, cutting it up, breading and baking it
06:01 <GodTodd> and what is "worthwhile" eating?
06:01 <Lucifer> and eating some of it, of course
06:01 <Lucifer> worthwhile presumes there's at least some thought given to making it nutritionally balanced :)
06:02 <GodTodd> you can do that with pizza
06:02 <GodTodd> in fact, i do
06:02 <Lucifer> I don't think it's possible to make pizza that's nutritionally balanced, because of the crust
06:02 <Lucifer> but I dont' mind offsetting the imbalance with a little fried chicken :)
06:02 <GodTodd> bah...whole wheat french bread
06:02 <Lucifer> heh
06:02 <Lucifer> the imbalance is meat vs bread
06:03 <Lucifer> problem is, a pizza can't physically stay together if there's balance
06:03 <Lucifer> not that I won't eat pizza, mind you, just that I won't eat cheese pizza
06:03 <GodTodd> heh
06:03 <Lucifer> and I don't have anything to add to it to fix it, so I need to eat something else
06:03 <GodTodd> i hate just cheese pizza
06:03 <GodTodd> i have to have meat and veggies on it
06:03 <Lucifer> and I try not to eat too much pizza
06:04 <Lucifer> if we have milk, I'm cooking the chicken
06:05 <GodTodd> i might make some more homemade bread this weekend....or possibly try out the bread maker
06:05 <Lucifer> then frying up some eggs and making some toast, then I'll eat a breast when the chicken's done
06:05 <Lucifer> bread makers rule
06:05 <GodTodd> we got ours free
06:05 <Lucifer> in fact, that's probably why we eat so much pizza now, because the damn thing makes a good crust
06:05 <Lucifer> ours was free too :)
06:05 <GodTodd> karen's parents never used it anymore
06:05 <Lucifer> ah, ours was bouht with a gift card, so my wife picked it out
06:06 <Gursikh> My parent's have a breadmaker they bought that hasn't left the box in 12 years

06:06 <Gursikh> :-(
06:06 <Gursikh> held up a table or some such
06:06 <GodTodd> i have a shitload of kitchen gadgets and a little tiny kitchen with no counter space :(
06:06 <Lucifer> deli meat is cheap if you buy big chunks of raw meat and then cook/slice yourself
06:07 <GodTodd> yep
06:07 <GodTodd> that's what i like it for
06:07 <Lucifer> Gursikh: nothing annoys me in my house more than shit that never gets used
06:07 <GodTodd> i need to get some crappy meat and try out the dehydrator too
06:07 <Lucifer> well, we'd need a smoker to go with the slicer
06:07 <Lucifer> I could do some nice turkey in the fridge, but I'd really want to do brisket
06:07 <GodTodd> i have an awesome crank-slicer too
06:07 <Gursikh> Lucifer: tell me about it
06:08 <Lucifer> cheapest fucking meat, but really tasty
06:08 <Gursikh> when I moved out I made sure not to have anything that I wouldn't use

06:13 <Lucifer> but we don't have a hand masher :(
06:13 <Lucifer> nor a reasonable substitute
06:13 <Gursikh> hammer?
06:13 <GodTodd> we have one that was part of a whole set of kitchen stuff
06:13 <GodTodd> spoons and spatulas and shit
06:13 <Lucifer> I should've stolen nick's when I had the chance
06:13 <Lucifer> man, we got one of those generic sets of kitchen stuff, and the only useful out of it was the garlic press, and now that's toast
06:13 <GodTodd> i don't have a garlic press
06:14 <Lucifer> the peeler only gets used on carrots, and I could do without it (but it doesn't take up much space)
06:14 <GodTodd> i just mince garlic
06:14 <Gursikh> man all you people with your fancy tools and whatnot
06:14 <Lucifer> some of the chinese dishes I do are better if the garlic went through ap ress
06:14 <GodTodd> i don't cook a lot of chinese actually
06:14 <Lucifer> the spatula from the set has such a steep angle and is so flexible that you can't actually use it for anything
06:14 * Gursikh is glad he doesn't have to cook all that much
06:14 <Lucifer> ah, I cook a buttload of chinese food
06:14 <GodTodd> lots of down home, bbq, italian
06:15 <GodTodd> cheddar beef roll up ftw
06:15 <Lucifer> not much italian here, I had my fill of that shit growing up :)
06:15 <GodTodd> :)
06:15 <GodTodd> side of fiesta potatoes with fresh raw veggies
06:15 <GodTodd> mwah
06:15 <Lucifer> lots of grilling, though
06:15 <Lucifer> grilled shrimp ftw! :)
06:15 <Lucifer> man, you know what really fuckin' rocks?
06:15 <Gursikh> smoked venison
06:16 <Lucifer> do a melted butter sauce with paprika, garlic, and basil
06:16 <GodTodd> my grill sucks so i don't do too much grilling beyond steaks
06:16 <Lucifer> use it to baste grilled corn on the cob
06:16 <Gursikh> I have a pit and a grill and a smoker :-)
06:16 <Lucifer> that's the best fuckin' corn in the world
06:16 <GodTodd> when we buy our next house i'ma get a rocking fuckin grill
06:16 <Lucifer> we used to have like 3 smokers, but sold them all before we left seattle
06:16 <Lucifer> I'm about ready to hit up construction sites for bricks and just build my own goddammned smoker
06:17 <Gursikh> It's worth it
06:17 <Gursikh> smoker's are the win
06:17 <GodTodd> i have bricks...maybe i should look into it
06:17 <GodTodd> heh
06:17 <Lucifer> heh
06:17 <Gursikh> I left half a white tail in there for ages, came out soooooooooooooo good
06:17 <Lucifer> I've considered building a smoker with mud bricks :)
06:17 <Gursikh> I cant taste it now
06:17 <GodTodd> not sure what they're from but i'm sick of stepping around them in the garage
06:17 <Gursikh> can*
06:17 <Lucifer> man, I used to do brisket you didn't even have to cut
06:18 <Lucifer> couldn't pick it up with a fork, shit fell apart
06:18 <GodTodd> my brisket comes out of the oven like that :P
06:18 <Gursikh> damn you're making me hungry now
06:18 <Lucifer> I don't put my brisket in the oven :)
06:18 <Gursikh> and I just ate dinner like 30 mins ago
06:18 <Lucifer> I've been grilling brisket lately
06:18 <GodTodd> i have like 10 briskets in the freezer
06:18 <Lucifer> on my cheap-ass weber
06:18 <GodTodd> need to do another up this weekend
06:18 <Lucifer> heh, we have a pound of unpeeled shrimp and like 10 pounds of green chiles in the freezer :)
06:18 <GodTodd> do you wrap it so it doesn't burn?
06:19 <Lucifer> oh yeah
06:19 <GodTodd> my cheap ass grill burns shit :(
06:19 <Lucifer> have to, or it burns :)
06:19 <Lucifer> indirect grilling ftw
06:19 <GodTodd> i might do that
06:19 <Lucifer> put the fire on one side, the brisket on the other
06:19 <GodTodd> need a winning marinade tho
06:19 <Lucifer> not saying it'll come out terribly great, mind you, grilled brisket can only be so good
06:19 <Gursikh> smoked > *
06:19 <Lucifer> I fall down with marinades
06:20 <Lucifer> but I do baby back ribs that fucking rock, using a chinese marinade
06:20 <GodTodd> actually...i have a liquid smoke/water combo that my bio father taught me that comes out really good
06:20 <GodTodd> keep it moist with a spray bottle
06:20 <GodTodd> cook it for hours
06:20 <Lucifer> put 'em with some garlic mashed potatoes (my garlic mashed potatoes also contain paprika and basil)
06:20 <GodTodd> he did it with ribs and they were fucking orgasmic
06:21 <Lucifer> I have a strong preference for keeping meat moist using only the juices it came with
06:21 <Lucifer> marinades are for flavor, imo
06:21 <Gursikh> same here
06:21 <GodTodd> he also has a grill that cost 600-100 bux tho
06:21 <GodTodd> 1000*
06:21 <Lucifer> heh
06:21 <Lucifer> I used to have this brinkman that cost $250, and it really rocked
06:22 <Lucifer> there was a crank to lift the fire up/down, and it was huge
06:22 <GodTodd> mine fucking burns brats
06:22 <Lucifer> doing enough for my family only covered 1/8 of the surface area
06:22 <Lucifer> I used it for the bbq stand
06:22 <Lucifer> my wife and I are of the opinion now that we should've kept it and gotten rid of the ez chair when we moved back to texas
06:22 <GodTodd> how do you fucking burn brats?
06:22 <GodTodd> :(
06:22 <Lucifer> too much air? :)
06:23 <GodTodd> good grill > ez chair
06:23 <GodTodd> :)
06:23 <Lucifer> indeed
06:23 <GodTodd> good grill >> ez chair even
06:23 <Lucifer> good grill <kicks the living shit out of> ez chair
06:23 <GodTodd> fuck yeah it do
06:23 <Lucifer> the chair just sits in the corner of my bedroom now
06:23 <Lucifer> I wonder if we could sell it for enough money to buy a new grill :)
06:24 <GodTodd> probably not
06:24 <GodTodd> heh
06:24 <Lucifer> or a smoker, I'd rather have a smoker
06:24 <GodTodd> i could go get 2 brand new ones for 300$
06:24 <Lucifer> my grill's good enough for most of the grilling I do, I want somethin I can smoke with
06:24 <GodTodd> ex chairs that is
06:24 <GodTodd> ez*
06:24 <GodTodd> smokers are expensive, no?
06:24 <Lucifer> hmmm, is it possible to build a smoker out of wood?
06:25 <Lucifer> well, you can get a basic smoker for $150 or less
06:25 <Lucifer> but you want one that won't warp, and those are $300 or more
06:25 <GodTodd> i don't want basic
06:25 <GodTodd> i want a good one
06:25 <Lucifer> get the cabinet kind, if you're wanting good
06:25 <Lucifer> make it a wood smoker, not gas, not electric
06:26 <Lucifer> gas and electric have their places and can be very nice, but start with just plain wood
06:26 <Lucifer> most of the wood smokers have attachments available to fit them for gas later on
06:26 <Lucifer> the tube kind is good, and pretty cheap, where you have a firebox on the side, and then a long tube for the meat, and a little chimney
06:26 <Lucifer> generally you can fit 3 turkeys side by side in them
06:27 <Lucifer> the cabinet kind are hard to do turkeys, but you can generally stack brisket like there's no tomorrow
06:27 <Lucifer> so you sacrifice 1-2 turkeys that you could do in the tube kind for the sake of stacking brisket
06:27 <Lucifer> but the stacking gives you other choices
06:27 <Lucifer> my wife's uncle puts pork ribs on top and brisket on the bottom, and lets the juices that runoff from the ribs hit the brisket
06:28 <Lucifer> you can also put the meat closer to the fire, and then distribute various veggies throughout the rest of the smoker
06:28 <Lucifer> so my next smoker will probably be a cabinet kind
06:28 <GodTodd> cool :)
06:28 <GodTodd> i don't see that i'll ever need to do 3 turkeys at once
06:29 <Lucifer> man, I used to think that
06:29 <Lucifer> seriously
06:30 <Lucifer> but when the turkeys go on sale for thanksgiving, you want to buy enough to meet your capacity for cooking them :)
06:30 -!- beta_AoC [n=titia@theo.is-a-geek.org] has quit [Remote closed the connection]
06:30 <GodTodd> i have a chest freezer :)
06:30 <GodTodd> i can buy them up the butt and cook them one at a time
06:30 <Lucifer> we used to keep ourselves well stocked with smoked turkey from thanksgiving sales, and we'd have smoked turkey in the fridge/freezer from then until about April
06:30 <Lucifer> so we'd have to buy turkeys at regular price in the summer
06:31 <Lucifer> ah, we don't have a chest freezer
06:31 <Lucifer> want one, though
06:31 <GodTodd> ours was a wedding gift
06:31 <GodTodd> i love it
06:31 <Lucifer> we would've had to sacrifice our couch to keep the one we had in seattle
06:31 <Lucifer> couch > chest freezer
06:31 <GodTodd> dunno...that's a close call for me ;)
06:32 <Lucifer> not for me and my 3 kids :)
06:32 <Lucifer> don't get me wrong, I still want the chest freezer :)
06:32 <GodTodd> course i'm spoiled....we have too much couch here :/
06:32 <Lucifer> we'd fill that fucker up in no time
06:32 <GodTodd> we did
06:32 <GodTodd> i need to reorganize it soon
06:32 <Lucifer> green chiles, mostly, is what we'd put in there
06:32 <GodTodd> figure out what all i got in there
06:32 <Lucifer> and turkeys from the thanksgiving sales :)
06:33 <Lucifer> brisket from 4th of july sales...
06:33 <GodTodd> yeah...that's where my briskets came from
06:33 <Lucifer> every now and then you get a helluva deal on various unusual cuts of meat that's worth snatching
06:33 <GodTodd> when they were like 79 cents a pound
06:33 <Lucifer> man, one year HEB did a 4th of july sale that was 10 cents a pound for brisket
06:33 <Lucifer> limit 2
06:33 <Lucifer> I went back 5 times :)
06:33 <GodTodd> i hate limits
06:34 <GodTodd> makes me run back a dozen times
06:34 <GodTodd> heh
06:34 <Lucifer> you had to do a $10 purchase with it, too
06:34 <GodTodd> that's easy to do
06:34 <Lucifer> so I broke up the grocery list into $10 purchases and went back until I was spent :)
06:34 <GodTodd> divide up the normal list in 10 dollar increments
06:34 <GodTodd> :)
06:35 <Lucifer> in seattle the turkeys for thanksgiving would reach 20 cents a pound
06:35 <GodTodd> we must have learned frugality in the same school
06:35 <Lucifer> haven't seen that here
06:35 <GodTodd> hard knocks ;)
06:35 <Lucifer> yep :)
06:35 <GodTodd> ever since my homeless days i've been frugal up the ass
06:36 <Lucifer> that brisket sale came when I only had like $80 and had to feed my family for a month
06:36 <Lucifer> only one kid then
06:36 * GodTodd says that while waiting on his robot butler to be delivered :/
06:36 <Lucifer> we ate brisket every day for like 3 months with what I bought for that $80
06:36 <Lucifer> heh
06:36 <Lucifer> so you bought a roomba, then?
06:36 <GodTodd> yeah
06:36 <GodTodd> the pet hair one
06:37 <GodTodd> yeah...in those days we (me and my ex) ate a lot of hot dogs and what we affectionately called "tuna shit"
06:37 <GodTodd> me, my ex and oldest kid, actually
06:37 <Lucifer> heh
06:37 <Lucifer> my wife was pissed that I spent all that money on brisket, even
06:38 <Lucifer> then she was amazed that i was able to cook for a whole month with only that, and we didn't eat the same shit every day
06:38 <GodTodd> 80 bucks in a month...that was about my grocery budget i think back then
06:38 <Lucifer> made bread from scratch, pot pies, all sorts of shit, just with odds and ends in the fridge/freezer
06:38 <Lucifer> we can't survive on that anymore, not $80/month
06:38 <Lucifer> but my wife comes in near $160/month most of the time
06:39 <Lucifer> family of five, she's amazing
06:39 <GodTodd> we were living in a hotel and paid like $500 a month in rent
06:39 <Lucifer> and we eat good, too (except tonight)
06:39 <GodTodd> i buy a lot of the staples in bulk
06:39 <Lucifer> yep
06:39 <GodTodd> we have a free sam's membership
06:39 <Lucifer> rice, flour, and sugar
06:39 <GodTodd> we have costco too
06:39 <Lucifer> ah, we'e got costco
06:40 <GodTodd> so, what one doesn't sell i get at the other
06:40 <GodTodd> :)
06:40 <Lucifer> we found costco's cheaper than sam's, and has more bulk stuff that's useful
06:40 <GodTodd> our dog food is at sam's
06:40 <Lucifer> also, sam's, here at least, isn't cheaper than HEB or Central market
06:40 <GodTodd> and with 2 60 lb dogs, that's a selling point
06:40 <Lucifer> I can see that
06:40 <Lucifer> no pets here
06:41 <Lucifer> we bought that kick ass grill from sam's, though
06:41 * Lucifer is still kicking himself over it
06:41 <GodTodd> we could literally keep our doors unlocked and not worry
06:41 <GodTodd> our dogs are only friendly if they know you
06:42 <GodTodd> our freezer was 300 at sam's
06:42 <Lucifer> we don't need a huge freezer, we just need a different shape
06:42 <GodTodd> ours is like 14 cuft i think
06:42 <Lucifer> we have a vertically-split fridge
06:42 <GodTodd> not big
06:42 <GodTodd> but big enough for now
06:42 <GodTodd> till i have teen boys :/
06:43 <Lucifer> the one we had up in seattle was huge, but i was using it for restaurant storage
06:43 <Lucifer> man, I can't decide what to cook
06:43 <GodTodd> heh...my oldest is one inch from being the height i was freshman year of HS
06:44 <Lucifer> my wife carefully saved all the bacon grease, so I can make a good gravy out of it
06:44 <Lucifer> haha
06:44 <Lucifer> so he's pushing to overgrow you pretty soon, eh?
06:44 <GodTodd> yeah
06:44 <GodTodd> well, you figure, my father is 6'3", i have a brother that's 5'11" and a sister that's 6'
06:45 <GodTodd> my youngest is gonna be a tall fucker tho
06:45 <GodTodd> add all that to karen's dad being "the short one"
06:45 <GodTodd> he's 6'2"
06:45 <Lucifer> I don't know how my boys are going to turn out, but my daughter's set for being an amazon goddess
06:46 <Lucifer> there isn't a small boob anywhere in her blood line, and she's already nearing my wife's height, and my wife ain't short!
06:46 <GodTodd> my youngest is just short of 3'
06:46 <GodTodd> i think he's 33 in
06:46 <GodTodd> heh
06:46 <Lucifer> I measure my kids by how low I have to go to hug them
06:46 <Lucifer> my dauhter's too tall for a squat, and too short for a standing tall hug
06:47 <GodTodd> i don't have to go too low to hug my oldest
06:47 <GodTodd> i'm like 14 inches taller than him :/
06:47 <Lucifer> only my youngest is squat hugggins size right now
06:47 <Lucifer> middle kid is too tall for that
06:47 <Lucifer> I wind up picking him up for hugs, but my daughter's too heavy for much of that
06:48 <GodTodd> your youngest is what, around 3?
06:48 <Lucifer> 4
06:48 <GodTodd> ah
06:48 <GodTodd> yeah
06:48 <Lucifer> man, my daughter's going to be nine in a couple of months
06:48 <GodTodd> fuck that...my oldest is almost 9 and a half
06:48 <Lucifer> old fart
06:49 <GodTodd> bah...i was young when he was born
06:49 <GodTodd> i was like 9
06:49 <GodTodd> :)
06:49 <Lucifer> heh
06:50 <GodTodd> fuck...i have an ex that turned 36 today
06:50 <GodTodd> i *am* old
06:50 <Lucifer> all my exes are younger than me
06:50 <Lucifer> but I only have one
06:50 <Lucifer> I'm just a baby
06:50 <Lucifer> hell, my wife's younger than me
06:51 <GodTodd> much :P
06:52 <Lucifer> yeah, she's going to be 13 this year
06:58 <Lucifer> ok, I think I'm going to do a little rice, some eggs with ham in them, and a gravy
06:58 <Lucifer> that means I need to turn off the oven that I just turned on
06:58 <GodTodd> heh

20:58 <spidey> ./configure?
20:59 <philippeqc> well, for starter yes
20:59 <spidey> ...that's what gave me the error
20:59 <philippeqc> and then check the Makefile(s), a special command is used to generate the compilers flags for libxml2
