00:15 <smoothice> Does anyone here know what armagetron configuration files are loaded automatically? (dedicated server)
00:15 <epsy> config/settings_custom.cfg
00:15 <epsy> config/server_info.cfg
00:15 <epsy> config/autoexec.cfg
00:16 <epsy> config/everytime.cfg
00:16 <epsy> var/autoexec.cfg
00:16 <epsy> var/everytime.cfg
00:16 <epsy> avoid using the last two unless it's really dynamic data
00:16 <smoothice> ok
00:16 <smoothice> Only reason is I'm making a Wild Sty server
00:20 <epsy> I don't see the relation but well, hf
00:20 <smoothice> lol
00:20 <smoothice> You'll see :P
00:27 <epsy> ok

00:41 <epsy> here you go
00:41 <epsy> if it's not documented enough, then it's a bug
00:41 <PinkTomato> animuson: Are you making a public authority?
00:41 <smoothice> epsy: so lets say you are running an arma server under CTF configuration. Then if I include HTF settings will it become HTF or will the settings be messed up? I want to make a multimode server but I don't know how to handle the configuration
00:41 <PinkTomato> smoothice: INCLUDE settings.cfg before using new settings is what I use
00:42 <smoothice> but
00:42 <PinkTomato> You need to add the sty settings to the file
00:42 <smoothice> settings.cfg doesn't include stuff like shot_thresh
00:42 <smoothice> yeah
00:42 <epsy> well, many configs assume server was set on default settings before inclusion
00:42 <epsy> so you might get surprises
00:42 <epsy> best is to beta-test it
00:42 <smoothice> yeah
00:42 <smoothice> I don't know since Wild West manages to do it
00:42 <smoothice> Pretty well

00:56 <smoothice> ?
00:57 <epsy> while the first two need explanation, I really doubt the help text is unclear on 2

03:09 <sinewav> `no
03:09 <Sk3L3TOn> ok
03:09 <sinewav> 1000 would be minutes (less than a day)

07:08 <BabyBug> ty =D
07:11 <Lucifer> hey babybug
07:11 <BabyBug> Hey luci =)
07:11 <Lucifer> are you interested in working with php at all?
07:14 <BabyBug> always been interested in working with it, better know practically nothing about it, and haven't had the reason to learn it properly yet.
07:14 <luke-jr> TWG is PHP
07:14 <BabyBug> s/better/but i/
07:14 <BabyBug> *still needs to wake up*
07:15 <Lucifer> heh
07:15 <Lucifer> I could use some help with this php app I'm working on
07:15 <Lucifer> that's why I ask :)
07:15 <Lucifer> it's not terribly difficult if you've already done some python, but it's also not terribly fun help I'm looking for
07:15 <Lucifer> it's not an arma-oriented app, either
07:15 <BabyBug> What's the app do?
07:15 <Lucifer> it will be my next entrepreneurial venture
07:16 <Lucifer> web-based home finance management
07:16 <Lucifer> the idea is that by being web-based, a user can use it anywhere
07:16 <Lucifer> the most obvious place that is useful is on a cell phone, so it'll ultimately need to work on small web browsers
07:17 <Lucifer> I've looked pretty hard for good web-based home finance software and haven't found it, so it looks like a niche that hasn't been tapped
07:17 <BabyBug> oo nice, sounds like a good idea if done right aswell =)
07:17 <Lucifer> if you're interested in helping, your payment is your experience with php :)
07:17 <BabyBug> sure i'm interested. Nothing better to do lately anywhoo.
07:17 <Lucifer> that's all I can offer right now, heh ;)
07:18 <Lucifer> I need someone to write an admin interface, to manage users, and to make the permissions system
07:18 <Lucifer> I've almost got it ready to start allowing logins, it would be helpful to have someone do the essentially grunt work on the admin interface while I go off and work on the actual home finance management stuff
07:19 * Lucifer knows exactly how he wants the home finance stuff to work since he's been working on it for several years as a desktop app
07:26 <Lucifer> anyway, if you want to help out, you need an apache installation with working php5, and mysql
07:26 <Lucifer> bazaar, of course, and I have to create a shell account for you on my server to get at the repository
07:31 <BabyBug> sorry, baby called ^^ But sure, i'll help out =)
07:33 <Lucifer> ok, go make sure you've got apache+php5+mysql running ;)
07:34 <Lucifer> I just cracked through and got logins working, now I'm excited again ;)
07:34 <BabyBug> Installing them now ^^
07:34 <luke-jr> I know that I haven't found anything that does half of what I want
07:35 <luke-jr> I also know that I want something more complicated than I can conceive of in my mind. ;)
07:35 <BabyBug> lies...Anything's conceivable....eventually =x
07:36 <luke-jr> the implementation details, I mean
07:37 <luke-jr> I want to be able to see/record transactions with "real" time/date, "effective" date, "post" date, including also details such as moving money between accounts to get to the destination, as well as whether it draws from X category of the budget
07:38 <luke-jr> with budget categories like allowances being a formula $ per month
07:38 <luke-jr> based on the prior month's income minus expenses
07:39 <Lucifer> double-entry accounting provides everything except budget categories as a formula $ per month (etc)
07:40 <Lucifer> what you're wanting is called "Accrual-based accounting", where expences are recorded when they are incurred, not when they are paid
07:40 <Lucifer> so you have a special account, type Liability, generally called "Accounts payable" for such expenses
07:40 <luke-jr> ah, but I want to record them when paid as well ;)
07:40 <Lucifer> when the expense is incurred, you debit liability and credit the appropriate expense (I'm not done yet, hang in there)
07:40 <Lucifer> but home users don't want to look at some nebulous "Accounts payable" that only shows a total of all that they owe
07:41 <Lucifer> they want to know to whom it is owed, and what the breakdown is
07:41 <Lucifer> fancy code could be written, but what I want to do instead is either mirror the expenses branch under Accounts Payable,
07:41 <Lucifer> or create a branch under Accounts Payable that the user defines, where each leaf represents a particular vendor
07:41 <Lucifer> like electricity, water, insurance, etc.
07:41 <luke-jr> I want all the details to be a single transaction though ☺
07:41 <Lucifer> so you would have expenses that itemize electricity, water, and sewage
07:42 <Lucifer> but most people pay for that as a package from one vendor, Joe's Utility Service or somesuch
07:42 <luke-jr> rly?
07:42 <Lucifer> you can't have it as a single transaction, it's two separate transactions
07:42 <Lucifer> one for when the bill is received, and one for when you pay the bill
07:43 <Lucifer> so you'd have an A/P account called "Joe's Utility Service" (if that is the name of your utility company), and several expense accounts for the line items (water, electricity, sewage)
07:43 <luke-jr> so I'd want to see bills instead of transactions ;)
07:43 <Lucifer> I'd like the program to automate that
07:43 <luke-jr> and viewing details of the bill, when it was received, due, and paid
07:43 <Lucifer> you're asking for a particular interface
07:43 <Lucifer> I'd like to record line items for bills too. :)
07:44 <Lucifer> there would be some extra metadata that goes with it, but that can be handled in the property system
07:44 <Lucifer> the fundamentals for what you want are already in my head, and the implementation details are known, just not implemented
07:45 <Lucifer> hell, I just got logins to work, there is no accounting database yet
07:45 <Lucifer> I need to make the permissions table and move on, heh ;)

08:25 <Lucifer> the answer is "no" :)
08:25 <Lucifer> knetworkmanager, kate, and firefox all appear to leak memory
08:26 <Lucifer> at least, if you leave them running, over time they will each consume all available memory
08:35 <Lucifer> ok, time to cook dinner

» Layout is loosely based on an old design by Durf.

is a site that has tools, maps, and other various items. It orignally only existed as a server control panel, but I slowly began adding stuff such as a homepage and tools.

This is an LLM-free zone. In general, I am unwilling to use (fight with) any form of "GenAI" to write code for me. So, for the forseeable future, everything on this site will continue to be written by a very silly goose (wait that's me honk honk) with some parts written by other humans as well (silly hu-mon) rather than any plausible-series-of-words token-eating machine. Even my libraries are out of date, and suddenly that's a good thing!
(Although the style has changed several times and content has been added and changed, the base of this site has barely been updated since 2015. But it Ain't Broke!)
This site is also occasionally tested with older browsers, but compatibility is not guarenteed. Although, if you have an old obscure browser and something isn't working that previously did, I guess you can tell me (nelg) about it...
