00:00 <TaZ> haha
00:00 <TaZ> i will remember to be more specific with you epsy
00:00 <epsy> it's not being more specific, it's not the saem thing
00:00 <PinkTomato> Oh, and knowing Apple, they probably wouldn't let you tell anyone that you have it anyway.
00:01 <epsy> talking about NDAs still didn't hear about a linux GL :(
00:01 <epsy> QL *
00:01 <TaZ> yea, don't they have a NDA?
00:02 <TaZ> epsy

00:04 <TaZ> i saw a preview of the browser..it was better than the iPhones

00:05 <TaZ> heh
00:05 <epsy> errr..windows mobile?
00:05 <TaZ> yes...:/
00:05 <TaZ> it also has wireless charging
00:05 <epsy> I wonder how many people use that
00:05 <TaZ> alot of poeple you winmo
00:06 <epsy> charging for using wifi .. at home?
00:06 <TaZ> wireless charging base
00:06 <TaZ> no wires needed
00:06 <epsy> ah
00:06 <TaZ> uses something with magnets
00:06 <epsy> and a dynamo?
00:07 <epsy> I didn't see anyone use windows mobile yet
00:07 <TaZ> idk, i haven't read into it
00:07 <TaZ> it's like those electric toothbrush stations
00:08 <TaZ> what do they use in Paris, symbian?
00:08 <epsy> since pretty much every phone out there uses symbian, under different flavors, yes
00:08 <@armabot> armacommits: [0.2.8-armagetronad-sty+ct] r651 adding /team and /msg to chatlog when configured
00:10 <TaZ> no
00:10 <TaZ> you have winmo, BREW, android, palm's os
00:10 <TaZ> many more
00:10 <epsy> 90% is symbian-based
00:11 <epsy> (90% of sold units)
00:11 <TaZ> proof?
00:11 <epsy> read: most
00:11 <PinkTomato> isn't symbian only Nokia?
00:11 <TaZ> no
00:11 <epsy> proof? all mobile phone manufactures invest in symbian
00:11 <epsy> *almost all
00:12 <TaZ> but I don't believe that most phones are of the symbian os
00:12 <epsy> _that_ is why android isn't pushing in
00:12 <epsy> they are
00:12 <TaZ> Yes, some phone companies do, but not all
00:12 <TaZ> and some invest very little
00:13 -!- dlh [n=dlh@70.88.244.226] has quit []
00:14 <epsy> except a very few phones in their arsenals, all of most phone manufacters will be symbian-based
00:14 <TaZ> Symbian is the main OS for Nokia phones and sometimes SE
00:14 <epsy> (and sometimes really lack decent work on it)
00:14 <epsy> yes
00:14 <epsy> Nokia is gonna buy it all
00:14 <TaZ> oh yea, i heard
00:15 <PinkTomato> I just remembered where I first shown armagetronad
00:15 <PinkTomato> work experience week :D
00:15 <epsy> you can put the word work in quotes already :D
00:15 <PinkTomato> lol :D
00:16 <TaZ> epsy, barely most of the mobile phone market use symbian
00:16 <epsy> most, except the very latest phones
00:16 <TaZ> no
00:17 <TaZ> early PDA's maybe
00:17 <epsy> probably because they don't bother to maintain their own flavor anymore, and s60 is too expensive or whatever
00:17 <TaZ> yea, I was just saying that most phones these days don't have symbian
00:18 <TaZ> nor back in the day
00:18 <TaZ> well maybe when Nokia ruled the market :P
00:18 <epsy> if you take all the phones that have been advertised last months, there are no symbians except s60's
00:18 <TaZ> yea
00:18 <TaZ> no wait
00:18 <TaZ> s40 too
00:18 <TaZ> I saw some
00:19 <epsy> it was not very advertised, I guess :)
00:19 <PinkTomato> Mobiles phone and text, they all do the same thing and never change much, yet people always strive to upgrade and get the new contract. So it may come with a new gimmicky feature, have you ever received a video call? People only use Mobiles for those primary functions, Call and Text.
00:19 <TaZ> in fact, i saw what looked like a N series phone, with s40
00:19 <TaZ> i was like..wtf?
00:19 <epsy> PinkTomato, camera
00:19 <epsy> TaZ, lol
00:20 <PinkTomato> epsy: Ah I forgot that one, yeah camera's are popular on phones, they are getting close to a proper one.
00:20 <epsy> PinkTomato, packing up the music player, camera and phone is something I want :) at least for the music player
00:20 <TaZ> n95 used to have one of the best mobile cameras
00:20 <epsy> it now doesn't have anymore? :)
00:21 <TaZ> nah, i think some one has beaten them to it
00:21 <TaZ> i'll have to find the link..it may have been another nokia actually..
00:21 <epsy> well, if you're just sticking to who's got the most megapenisses
00:21 <epsy> there was a 6MP one
00:21 <TaZ> nah, im talking quality wise
00:21 <epsy> dont know who from
00:21 <PinkTomato> it's the lens that counts anyway
00:22 <TaZ> epsy, http://www.engadgetmobile.com/ my favorite site
00:22 <TaZ> i love the carl zeiss lens that nokia uses
00:22 <epsy> IBM does phones?

00:23 <ct|kyle> PinkTomato: how about a new CTF map if there are more 8 players
00:23 <epsy> mainly because of the touchscreen interface
00:23 <PinkTomato> ct|kyle: why what goes wrong with CTF over 8?
00:23 <epsy> it's like, you have a preview and you have to hide the preview to take a shot

00:24 <TaZ> i guess so epsy lol
00:24 <PinkTomato> ct|kyle: is it? hmm...
00:24 <TaZ> i love iphone's UI

00:30 <PinkTomato> I've not worked out how to solve the statelessness in scripts

00:35 <epsy> they say they will work on osx support, then on lin ux support, although it seems someone's already working on the linux port

00:36 <TaZ_> ok

00:37 <TaZ_> o

00:53 <Lucifer> it looks to me like you've made a design error, so I was asking what you were trying to design :)
00:55 <PinkTomato> OK, I am reading every line one at a time in ladderlog.txt. Using CTSTY and PHP. When NUM_HUMANS appear, I want to store that integer, so that when ROUND_COMMENCING appears, I can make a decision to load one map when there are less people, and another map when there are lots of people. :).
00:56 <Lucifer> ok, and why do you need session variables? Regular variables should work fine for that
00:56 <Lucifer> $num_humans = whatever;
00:56 <Lucifer> the hard part is telling the server to change the map :)
00:57 <PinkTomato> PHP is stateless?
00:57 <Lucifer> php is a scripting language
00:57 <Lucifer> http is stateless
00:58 <PinkTomato> $humans did not work, and I think its the way I call the script in bash, it reads the line, opens php, php processes and php closes.
00:58 <Lucifer> heh, yeah, that's bad design :)
00:58 <Lucifer> you need to write it as a program, not a webpage

This is an LLM-free zone. In general, I am unwilling to use (fight with) any form of "GenAI" to write code for me. So, for the forseeable future, everything on this site will continue to be written by a very silly goose (wait that's me honk honk) with some parts written by other humans as well (silly hu-mon) rather than any plausible-series-of-words token-eating machine. Even my libraries are out of date, and suddenly that's a good thing!
(Although the style has changed several times and content has been added and changed, the base of this site has barely been updated since 2015. But it Ain't Broke!)
This site is also occasionally tested with older browsers, but compatibility is not guarenteed. Although, if you have an old obscure browser and something isn't working that previously did, I guess you can tell me (nelg) about it...
