02:30 <z-man> GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! gParser has no destructor!
02:31 * z-man shakes head
02:32 * luke-jr hides
02:34 <luke-jr> is trunk usable again?
02:37 <armabot> armagetronad: luke-jr * r7488 /armagetronad/branches/0.2.8/armagetronad/language/english_base.txt: apparently I missed this a while ago
02:37 <luke-jr> err, wait… or did I just never commit RInclude at all? :x
02:37 <luke-jr> what was decided as far as resource includes?
02:38 <armabot> armagetronad: luke-jr * r7489 /armagetronad/branches/0.2.8/armagetronad/src/tools/tConfiguration.cpp: the rest of RInclude, since I just accidentally committed part of it; revert if you like
02:39 <armabot> armagetronad: z-man * r7490 /armagetronad/branches/0.2.8/armagetronad/src/tron/ (gParser.cpp gParser.h):
02:39 <armabot> armagetronad: Fixed memory leak caused by missing gParser destructor. The leakfinding
02:39 <armabot> armagetronad: memory manager missed it because all allocation was done through libxml2,
02:39 <armabot> armagetronad: and it passed casual code review because the corresponding delete operation
02:39 <armabot> armagetronad: did happen, just not always; a leak would occur every time a completely new
02:39 <armabot> armagetronad: game was started.
02:42 <z-man> I don't think anything was decided regarding RInclude. If it's there now, it is there.
02:42 <z-man> Trunk is usable, as long as you don't connect to zonev1 servers.
02:43 <luke-jr> does that include servers with timeout deathzones?
02:43 <z-man> Sure :)
02:43 <luke-jr> o well
02:44 <z-man> Mhh, two more leaks, one in gParser, one in the network flood protection stuff. Will look at them tomorrow.
02:44 <luke-jr> btw, do you think it'd be worth my spending $20 to advertise on http://tinyurl.com/3dpxm4 ?
02:44 <luke-jr> advertise Arma that is
02:45 <luke-jr> 1000 views-- I'm wondering if we could get maybe 100 or so new players in the community
02:46 <z-man> I don't think these "get paid to view ads" things work for either side of the deal.
02:46 <z-man> The only one making profit is the company arranging the deal.
02:47 <luke-jr> hrm
02:47 <luke-jr> not even if Arma is free?
02:47 <luke-jr> surely it must make sense for the advertisers, since they buy the ads :/
02:48 <z-man> Make sense != be of benefit :)
02:48 <luke-jr> heh
02:59 <z-man> Ah. Looks like someone did not read the docs of xmlGetProp.
03:00 <luke-jr> ?
03:00 <z-man> (and I forgot a delete, of course)
03:01 <armabot> armagetronad: z-man * r7491 /armagetronad/branches/0.2.8/armagetronad/src/network/nNetwork.h: Fixed leak in machine decorators, forgot to delete this in Destroy().
03:01 <z-man> The third leak I was talking about. Tons of calls to xmlGetProp.
03:01 <z-man> which returns a char * you have to free.
03:01 <luke-jr> machine decorators?
03:02 <z-man> Heh, yeah, a construct to attach arbitrary information to client machines on the server.
03:02 <z-man> Sort of an in-memory IP lookup table.
03:02 <luke-jr> it uses xml?
03:02 <z-man> One of the silly C++ ideas I implemented. Used only in one or two places.
03:02 <z-man> no.
03:03 <z-man> I talked about two other leaks, remember?
03:03 <luke-jr> o
03:03 <z-man> One was in the xml code, the other somewhere else in the networking stuff.
03:03 <z-man> And of course, the one in the xml code really is about a million individual leaks, all calls to xmlGetProp.
03:04 * z-man will have to wrap this, but not today, way over bedtime.
03:04 <luke-jr> btw
03:04 <luke-jr> I still have 3 open bugs on 0.2.8 ☺
03:04 <luke-jr> 1. Data stuck in some receive buffer
03:05 <luke-jr> 2. If I exit the game too fast, it crashes X somehow-- seems to be fine if I wait for the "hint" on the menu to appear
03:05 <luke-jr> 3. I've been going through walls lately quite a bit
03:05 <z-man> Post about them, I'm too sleepy to remember them tomorrow :)

12:38 <tramshed> oh yeah?
12:39 <tramshed> is this in the development trunk?
12:39 <tramshed> Ill have to check it out then
12:40 <tramshed> oh, I noticed on other possible bug, though it may just be my configuration
12:40 <tramshed> it wont let me change some single player values when runnin as dedi
12:40 <z-man> No, it's the 0.2.8 branch
12:40 <tramshed> namely sp_num_ais and sp_game_type
12:40 <tramshed> oh, you make a new release?
12:41 <z-man> 0.2.8.3 is scheduled to arive within finite time, yes.
12:41 <tramshed> cool, Ill grab it tomorrow and see how it does
12:42 <tramshed> now if I can only remember the ./configure command I had to use to make it compile right on dragonfly, heh
12:42 <tramshed> took me a few tries to get it to work on that weirdo bsd
12:44 <z-man> You can look it up in config.status.
12:45 <tramshed> cept I think I deleted it, heh
12:45 <tramshed> trial and error ftw!
12:46 <tramshed> I was playin with settings the other day and I made a test server with 0 cycle delay and tons of axes (50+) and used the mouse to control, it was interesting
13:01 <eddiefantastic> z-man: that reminds me of a setting I looked for some time ago, BUTTON_DELAY or something, the number of milliseconds you hold down a button before it is pressed again. On high axes maps could make the bike feel more like a bike
13:22 <z-man> eddiefantastic: that would have horrible side effects on the buttons that don't turn your cycle.
13:23 <z-man> On the trunk, the new joystick control should work very well on high axis servers.
13:39 <eddiefantastic> thanks, I'll take a look

This is an LLM-free zone. In general, I am unwilling to use (fight with) any form of "GenAI" to write code for me. So, for the forseeable future, everything on this site will continue to be written by a very silly goose (wait that's me honk honk) with some parts written by other humans as well (silly hu-mon) rather than any plausible-series-of-words token-eating machine. Even my libraries are out of date, and suddenly that's a good thing!
(Although the style has changed several times and content has been added and changed, the base of this site has barely been updated since 2015. But it Ain't Broke!)
This site is also occasionally tested with older browsers, but compatibility is not guarenteed. Although, if you have an old obscure browser and something isn't working that previously did, I guess you can tell me (nelg) about it...
