01:23 <Lucifer> er, that's not exactly what I meant
01:23 <Lucifer> I guess you're not interested in this lunar rover project, but would you be willing to throw a little translation thing? Provided it didn't take long.... ;)
01:24 <Lucifer> this impule-based simulation library has the api docs in german. :( I'm having a hard time determining if it's "good enough", but it appears to be the best open source has right now
01:34 <Lucifer> I got tricked, he's not really there

03:01 <Lucifer> heya kyle
03:01 <Lucifer> while I'm making svn accounts, what username do you want?
03:01 <ct|kyle> oi Lucifer
03:01 <ct|kyle> kyle
03:02 <Lucifer> can you get pms here?
03:02 <Lucifer> er
03:02 <Lucifer> PMs ?
03:02 <ct|kyle> yes
03:05 <Lucifer> I'm going to do some homework and then probably transfer our existing google docs to svn
03:05 <Lucifer> I don't think it's all that unreasonable to have everybody learn how to use svn, since it's pretty easy to work with :)
03:05 <ct|kyle> really easy to work with on linux
03:06 <Lucifer> yeah, and we'll need it for code anyway :)
03:06 <ct|kyle> ya
03:06 <ct|kyle> commit the code well at the start so i can understand it :D
03:07 <Lucifer> commit or comment? ;)
03:07 <ct|kyle> comment*
03:07 <Lucifer> I've become a big fan of doxygen, so that won't be a big problem for me :)
03:07 <ct|kyle> i like that too
03:07 <ct|kyle> i should learn that also
03:07 <Lucifer> I like this impulse-based simulation library a lot, it looks pretty easy to work with, so I'm inclined to just start in on that
03:08 <Lucifer> when I get a chance, if nobody else has, of course.
03:08 <ct|kyle> yes that does look the best
03:08 <Lucifer> you don't actually have to learn doxygen, I'll throw in a config file that generates readable docs and then you just have to run doxygen every now and then to get api docs
03:09 <ct|kyle> be easyer if we just have them in the svn
03:09 <Lucifer> er, you will have to learn how to use doxygen markup though
03:09 <Lucifer> well, with generated files like that, you don't really want them in svn
03:09 <Lucifer> I'll probaby throw an automated api doc generator together at some point and stick it on my web server
03:10 <ct|kyle> ok
03:10 <Lucifer> soon as I fix the buildbot, that is. buildbot's broke :(
03:13 <Lucifer> well, maybe your friend will change his mind later on. ;)
03:13 <ct|kyle> maybe
03:14 <ct|kyle> he really likes the whole idea
03:14 <ct|kyle> he said if i saw him online he would research something
03:14 <Lucifer> I expect that people will be more willing to join when we look viable
03:14 <ct|kyle> ya
03:14 <Lucifer> right now we're vapor, and there's a million projects that are in planning stage
03:15 <ct|kyle> we really need to create a scope for the project
03:15 <Lucifer> a million abandoned projects, that is
03:16 <ct|kyle> when i first told my friend he did not realize we were actually sending the robot to the moon
03:17 <Lucifer> I need to follow up with my dad, if he says now I've got another electrical engineer to hit up still that works in the physics department at my school
03:17 <Lucifer> he's probably willing to help out some, but may not be willing to give time for more than helping us troubleshoot circuits and looking over our designs
03:19 <ct|kyle> I think we will want our circuit board to have our final output that is sent to the motors
03:19 <Lucifer> depends, I guess
03:20 <ct|kyle> i think my friend would just be a good person to bounce ideas off of
03:20 <Lucifer> we'll probably want a simple amplification circuit in there for sure
03:20 <Lucifer> where the computer plays the role of the preamp :)
03:20 <ct|kyle> Digital potentiometer
03:20 <Lucifer> depends on how much current we're talking about sending to the motor, I suspect
03:20 <ct|kyle> that the code can acess and change
03:21 <Lucifer> ah, I see what you're saying. Digital potentiometer to interface with the analog signals that actually drive it?
03:22 <ct|kyle> ya i think
03:23 <Lucifer> well, assuming the motor's power comes directly off the solar cells (or battery or whatever), it seems like we want to use a simple transistor to vary how much current goes to the motor
03:23 <Lucifer> and we want the computer to control that resistance in the transistor
03:24 <Lucifer> er, unless I'm mistaken and transistors aren't relaly variable resistance :)
03:24 <ct|kyle> probably
03:24 <ct|kyle> i never got into transistors
03:24 <Lucifer> how the computer does it doesn't matter to me so long as we can have somewhere a function that says powerMotor("left", 0.5)
03:25 <ct|kyle> ya
03:26 <Lucifer> yeah, transistor's right :)
03:26 <ct|kyle> powerMotor("both",.5)
03:26 <Lucifer> yeah, or we might use defines or something. Probably want it generalized enough to allow any arbitrary number of motors :)
03:28 <ct|kyle> ok

• Design:
» Layout is loosely based on an old design by Durf.
» Icons on the tools page were originally by Royce, new icons added will try to follow some of the design language.
» Various other icon selections include icons from Crystal, crystalsvg, oxygen, and breeze icon themes.
» Other icons: fontawesome

is a site that has tools, maps, and other various items. It orignally only existed as a server control panel, but I slowly began adding stuff such as a homepage and tools.

This is an LLM-free zone. In general, I am unwilling to use (fight with) any form of "GenAI" to write code for me. So, for the forseeable future, everything on this site will continue to be written by a very silly goose (wait that's me honk honk) with some parts written by other humans as well (silly hu-mon) rather than any plausible-series-of-words token-eating machine. Even my libraries are out of date, and suddenly that's a good thing!
(Although the style has changed several times and content has been added and changed, the base of this site has barely been updated since 2015. But it Ain't Broke!)
This site is also occasionally tested with older browsers, but compatibility is not guarenteed. Although, if you have an old obscure browser and something isn't working that previously did, I guess you can tell me (nelg) about it...
