05:13 <Lucifer_arma> Gursikh: no, svn client is considered broken right now

05:43 <luke-jr> wow

05:47 <spidey> Gursikh: unlike tremulous, even if a newer version isn't compatible with a older server and vise versa, there's always overrides so that client can still connect :P
05:48 <Lucifer_arma> that's mostly true, just that right now the trunk's broken due to zones v2 work
05:48 <Lucifer_arma> I have a hankering to play freeciv, but I better not
05:49 <spidey> all the fa servers have the overrides enabled :D
05:49 <Lucifer_arma> hey, I played a 2 hour freeciv game once
05:49 <Lucifer_arma> I played the tutorial :)
05:49 <spidey> haha
05:49 <luke-jr> O.o
05:49 <Lucifer_arma> also, newer clients almost always can play on older servers
05:50 <spidey> all of our servers except the sty servers use 0.3.0
05:50 <Lucifer_arma> it's more practical that way than the other, having newer servers allow older clients. If the server uses a feature the client can't hope to accomodate, it's best to lock them out
05:50 <Lucifer_arma> 0.3.0 didn't have incompatible changes to the server, did it?
05:50 <Gursikh> spidey: for tremulous, backport fte
05:51 <spidey> dunno
05:51 <Gursikh> ftw*
05:51 <Lucifer_arma> the trunk does, and that's on philippe's todo list. Make sure zones v2 gets transmitted to older clients in a reasonable way
05:51 <spidey> Gursikh: the svn client should work out of the repo
05:51 <spidey> not have to apply patches to see more than 1 server
05:52 <Gursikh> I dont see why, it's up to the server ops to run newer protocol version
05:52 <spidey> it's upto the devs to keep svn upto date
05:53 <Gursikh> svn is up to date...
05:53 <Lucifer_arma> http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/target.htm
05:53 <spidey> Gursikh: not if you can't see more than 1 server, it's not :)
05:53 <Gursikh> what are you talking about? How does make svn out of date?
05:54 <Gursikh> The devs run 2 svn servers, and one other person sometimes does (your budd(
05:54 <spidey> it's lacking a feature they supply in there packages?

05:57 <spidey> haha
05:58 <spidey> oh yea
05:58 <spidey> Lucifer_arma: i finally got something "decent" working
05:59 <Lucifer_arma> you took your bra off?
05:59 <spidey> damn it, you was supposed to say that in private chat >:|
06:00 <spidey> http://fallin-angels.org/lol
06:00 <spidey> it's not perfect, but it works
06:00 <spidey> multircon saved the trouble of using stdin
06:01 <Lucifer_arma> I don't read bash!
06:01 <spidey> lol
06:01 <Lucifer_arma> I got half way through it before I remembered that, though
06:02 <Lucifer_arma> man, now I want to go into armastart and make it possible to process input and call callbacks, then add a little irc relay bot
06:03 <Lucifer_arma> wouldn't be that hard, just use CONSOLE_MESSAGE to write the irc text, and color the name some way that indicates it's from the irc channel
06:03 <spidey> i embeded "thebot" into meh trembot
06:03 <spidey> because i was to lazy to make one XD
06:04 <Lucifer_arma> well, you could write up a little plugin for supybot that just writes irc chat to a pipe and reads from a pipe
06:04 <Lucifer_arma> then make armastart read from the pipe and pass to the server, and write output from the server to that other pipe
06:04 <spidey> you know what
06:05 <Lucifer_arma> the real problem with that is that you'd need a separate bot in this channel for every arma server
06:05 <spidey> i tried converting the roulette game in the games plugin to bash
06:05 <spidey> for somereason the odds are 1:8 instead of 1:6
06:05 <Lucifer_arma> random numbers get you?
06:05 <spidey> lol
06:05 <Lucifer_arma> you mean the odds in the roulette game are 1:8?
06:05 <spidey> spam
06:05 <spidey> maxnum=6
06:05 <spidey> number=1
06:05 <spidey> num=$RANDOM
06:05 <spidey> let "num %= $maxnum"
06:05 <spidey> if [ "$num" -eq $number ]
06:06 <spidey> i don't see where it gets 8
06:06 <spidey> but it does
06:06 <Lucifer_arma> $num should be a number from 0-5, right?
06:06 <spidey> 1-6
06:06 <spidey> afaik
06:07 <Lucifer_arma> num %= $maxnum <--- that's a modulus operation, right?
06:07 <spidey> i believe so, yes
06:07 <Lucifer_arma> you get 0-(thenumber-1) from modulus
06:08 <Lucifer_arma> because it's the remainder from division. If the remainder was 6, you could divide 6 into the number one more time and get a remainder of 0 :)
06:08 <Lucifer_arma> 12/6 = 2, or 12/6 = 1 with a remainder of 6
06:08 <Lucifer_arma> see?
06:08 <spidey> ah
06:08 <spidey> yea
06:09 <Lucifer_arma> $RANDOM is some reserved word in bash that gives you a random number?
06:09 <spidey> it's like
06:09 <Lucifer_arma> yeah, that's what it's doing for me
06:09 <spidey> $((RANDOM%6)) and it gives you a random number between 0 and 6
06:10 <spidey> that's what i used last time
06:10 <spidey> but it wasn't like roulette, it was basically you do it untill you get a 0
06:10 <Durka> hi luci :D
06:10 <Lucifer_arma> that's working for me
06:10 <Lucifer_arma> yeah, that's not roulette either
06:10 <Gursikh> Durka: nano-sumo = super fun
06:10 <Lucifer_arma> armabot's roulette doesn't work that way either
06:11 <Lucifer_arma> what you really want to do is make an array of boolean values
06:11 <Lucifer_arma> initialize them all to false
06:11 <spidey> yea, i was trying to mimic armabot's roulette
06:11 <spidey> oo
06:11 <Lucifer_arma> then every round, add a bullet to a random element in the array
06:11 <spidey> i didn't think of using arrays
06:11 <Lucifer_arma> pick a random element, and if it's true, it fired
06:11 <Lucifer_arma> set that element to false and do it again :)
06:11 <Lucifer_arma> when you spin, just shuffle the array
06:12 <Lucifer_arma> now, the logic gets a little crazy here
06:12 <Lucifer_arma> you might prefer to only have one loaded chamber at a time
06:12 <Lucifer_arma> otherwise you need some mechanism to tell the bot to load another chamber
06:13 <Lucifer_arma> the traditional view of russian roulette is that the chamber gets a new bullet after everyone has spun it and pulled the trigger
06:13 <Lucifer_arma> not really a way to track that here, so maybe you just say everytime the same nickname plays, a new bullet is loaded
06:13 <Lucifer_arma> you'd have to track nicknames then, though, and also do timeouts
06:14 <Lucifer_arma> can get crazy then :/
06:14 <spidey> yea
06:14 <spidey> i like armabot's roulette better :D

19:39 <Lucifer_arma> that article's misleading
19:39 <Lucifer_arma> it looks like the culture was grown in space, which seems to indicate that the salmonella that were born in space were deadlier than the ones born on earth
19:39 <Lucifer_arma> we should try that with humans :)
19:43 <epsy> Lucifer_arma, when comes afl_settings 0.0.2 ? :p
19:57 <Lucifer_arma> epsy: aren't we on 0.1.1 right now?
19:57 <Lucifer_arma> I need to know that the package I made works, then I'll just quietly reversion it to final and release it :)

• Design:
» Layout is loosely based on an old design by Durf.
» Icons on the tools page were originally by Royce, new icons added will try to follow some of the design language.
» Various other icon selections include icons from Crystal, crystalsvg, oxygen, and breeze icon themes.
» Other icons: fontawesome

is a site that has tools, maps, and other various items. It orignally only existed as a server control panel, but I slowly began adding stuff such as a homepage and tools.

This is an LLM-free zone. In general, I am unwilling to use (fight with) any form of "GenAI" to write code for me. So, for the forseeable future, everything on this site will continue to be written by a very silly goose (wait that's me honk honk) with some parts written by other humans as well (silly hu-mon) rather than any plausible-series-of-words token-eating machine. Even my libraries are out of date, and suddenly that's a good thing!
(Although the style has changed several times and content has been added and changed, the base of this site has barely been updated since 2015. But it Ain't Broke!)
This site is also occasionally tested with older browsers, but compatibility is not guarenteed. Although, if you have an old obscure browser and something isn't working that previously did, I guess you can tell me (nelg) about it...
