04:36 <spidey> i tried most of those at 0
04:36 <spidey> the timed one it shows up as soon as the round starts
04:37 <Lucifer_arma> try the timed one at -1
04:37 <Lucifer_arma> or just set it really fucking high
04:37 <Lucifer_arma> like 10000000000000
04:37 <spidey> tried
04:37 <spidey> only i used 999999999999999999999
04:37 <spidey> it still showed up
04:37 <spidey> will try it at -1
04:37 <Lucifer_arma> showed up where?

04:37 <spidey> ya

04:38 <spidey> k
04:38 <Lucifer_arma> so if you have the one set to 1000000000000000, and min_last_death is 5, then 5 seconds after a kill it will appear

05:43 <Lucifer_arma> something just occured to me
05:44 <Lucifer_arma> on the wiki, it seems like the initial load of everyone registering has gone away. Would it be reasonable to have it so that new users have to be approved by a sysop?
05:44 <Lucifer_arma> that would kill all the spam right away, anyway
06:06 -!- Lizz [i=Lizz@DC-201-150.bpb.bigpond.com] has left #armagetron []

06:20 <spidey> it's back
06:32 <Your_mom_arma> luci sounds like a good idea but i think we should try it out for a time to see how it works... i dont think anyone wants to wait 3 days for an account to be confirmed
06:32 <Lucifer_arma> no, nobody does, but we have 4 sysops right now
06:33 <Lucifer_arma> and it's almost a certainty that if we ask for a couple more, we'll get enough volunteers that we can pick some good ones :)
06:33 <Lucifer_arma> I'm looking at some other stuff right now, there's another problem on the wiki I'd like to see solved that might get solved by moving it to a different system
06:33 <Your_mom_arma> how will we know who are spammers and who are actual users we may not of heard of?
06:33 <Your_mom_arma> whom i think
06:41 <Lucifer_arma> that's a problem. But if we accept every user still, the delay itself might stop the spamming.
06:41 <Lucifer_arma> Anyway, I'm interested in looking at the phpBB replication thing again with guru3 and getting the forums replicated to the wiki server, at which point I'll install the phpBB/mediawiki integration.
06:42 <Lucifer_arma> that should kill the spam for quite awhile, until the spambots figure out that they need to be phpBB bots for registration before they can be mediawiki bots.
06:43 <Lucifer_arma> I don't think we have a lot of spam right this minute, though. But I haven't made my toolbar button for wiki edits yet :)

11:41 <Lucifer_arma> look at colors.txt to see the format for the data files
11:42 <Lucifer_arma> basically, in [header] you do name=CONFIGITEM
11:42 <Lucifer_arma> then you make a section for each name defined in the header and you put the list there
11:42 <Lucifer_arma> just like in colors.txt, where the list items are just numbers that get picked

11:44 <spidey> ConfigParser.NoSectionError: No section: 'main'
11:44 <Lucifer_arma> ahhh, the file doesn't exist yet
11:45 <Lucifer_arma> the config file, that is
11:45 <Lucifer_arma> you need to make that
11:45 <Lucifer_arma> so do ./tron.py -c files=~/wherever/colors.txt
11:45 <Lucifer_arma> and try it again
11:46 <Lucifer_arma> ./tron.py -c files=~/wherever/colors.txt,~/wherever/lucifer.txt,~/wherever/spidey.txt
11:46 <Lucifer_arma> assumin you put everything in ~/, of course
11:46 -!- madmax|pt [n=madmax@bl5-8-126.dsl.telepac.pt] has joined #armagetron
11:46 <madmax|pt> hello
11:46 <Lucifer_arma> re madmax|pt
11:47 <spidey> ok
11:48 <Lucifer_arma> then
11:48 <Lucifer_arma> ./tron.py
11:48 <Lucifer_arma> should just start it like it did before
11:50 <spidey> i don't need to do anything to autoexec.cfg?
11:51 <Lucifer_arma> same as before, if the config item isn't mentioned in autoexec.cfg it doesn't get substituted
11:51 <Lucifer_arma> I just changed where the list items come from to make it easier for us to share files (and to get other people doing it :) )
11:52 <spidey> i can't bash tron.py now can i?
11:52 <Lucifer_arma> well, it's a python script
11:52 <Lucifer_arma> so you'd do python tron.py instead
11:52 <spidey> ah
11:52 <Lucifer_arma> or you set it executable and then you just type it in
11:53 <spidey> spidey@fbi.gov[~]$ python tron.py
11:53 <spidey> python: can't open file 'tron.py': [Errno 2] No such file or directory
11:53 <spidey> O_o
11:53 <Lucifer_arma> it's set executable in svn, so you shouldn't have to do anything, just do "tron.py"
11:53 <spidey> there we go
11:53 <spidey> well
11:53 <spidey> it didn't work :/
11:54 <Lucifer_arma> ?
11:54 <Lucifer_arma> check the console, it outputs exactly what it does there
11:54 <spidey> didn't change anything
11:54 <Lucifer_arma> er, terminal
11:54 <spidey> spidey@fbi.gov[~]$ tron.py
11:54 <spidey> PLAYER_1
11:54 <spidey> COLOR_R_1 30
11:54 <spidey> COLOR_G_1 17
11:54 <spidey> COLOR_B_1 16
11:54 <spidey> it did
11:54 <spidey> but didn't
11:54 <spidey> hmm
11:54 <spidey> hold on
11:55 <spidey> weird
11:55 <spidey> here's what autoexec.cfg shows
11:55 <spidey> PLAYER_1
11:55 <spidey> COLOR_R_1 30
11:55 <spidey> COLOR_G_1 17
11:55 <spidey> COLOR_B_1 16
11:55 <spidey> but it didn't do the changes
11:55 <Lucifer_arma> is there anything that says this:
11:55 <Lucifer_arma> Can't open file '/home/share/Projects/armagetronad/lucifer.txt'. Sorry.
11:55 <Lucifer_arma> or something to that effect?
11:55 <spidey> nope
11:55 <Lucifer_arma> autoexec.cfg is in ~/.armagetronad/var , right?
11:56 <Lucifer_arma> nothing crazy?
11:56 <spidey> correct
11:56 <Lucifer_arma> did you point it at colors.txt and lucifer.txt?
11:56 <spidey> yup
11:56 <Lucifer_arma> what's tron.py -s say?
11:57 <spidey> er
11:57 <spidey> my autoexec.cfg just got erased when i restarted it
11:57 * Lucifer_arma thinks he should have it back up the old one
11:57 <spidey> spidey@fbi.gov[~]$ tron.py -s
11:57 <spidey> Showing config
11:57 <spidey> files = /home/spidey/words.txt,/home/spidey/colors.txt
11:57 <Lucifer_arma> both of those files exist, I take it?
11:57 <spidey> yea
11:57 <Lucifer_arma> if they didn't it would say something
11:58 <spidey> or it wouldn't have let me set it
11:58 <Lucifer_arma> what does words.txt have?
11:58 <spidey> the names
11:58 <Lucifer_arma> can you paste it to a pastebin somewhere?
11:59 <spidey> wow
11:59 <spidey> acid@fallin-angels.com:/public_html/words.txt
11:59 <spidey> acid@fallin-angels.com's password:
11:59 <spidey> stdin: is not a tty
11:59 <spidey> scp: /public_html: Permission denied
11:59 <spidey> O_o
12:00 <spidey> nvm
12:00 <spidey> see what i did
12:00 <spidey> http://fallin-angels.com/words.txt
12:00 <spidey> all i did was
12:01 <spidey> rename lucifer.txt to words.txt
12:01 <spidey> and added a few lines to the end
12:01 <Lucifer_arma> aha, that's the wrong format
12:01 <spidey> ?
12:02 <Lucifer_arma> maybe I committed the wrong file
12:02 <Lucifer_arma> lemme check what sourceforge says is tehre :)
12:02 <spidey> i got it
12:02 <spidey> [header]
12:02 <spidey> name = PLAYER_1
12:02 <spidey> [name]
12:02 <spidey> added that
12:02 <spidey> spidey@fbi.gov[~]$ tron.py
12:02 <spidey> PLAYER_1 Homosexual
12:02 <spidey> COLOR_R_1 26
12:02 <spidey> COLOR_G_1 16
12:02 <spidey> COLOR_B_1 15
12:02 <Lucifer_arma> that's right :)
12:02 <spidey> but
12:03 <Lucifer_arma> sorry, I'll fix that
12:03 <spidey> it still doesn't work
12:03 <spidey> lol
12:03 <Lucifer_arma> ? colors are different now?
12:03 <spidey> nope
12:03 <spidey> samename
12:03 <spidey> same colors
12:03 <Lucifer_arma> [04:54] <spidey> COLOR_R_1 30
12:03 <Lucifer_arma> [04:54] <spidey> COLOR_G_1 17
12:03 <Lucifer_arma> [04:54] <spidey> COLOR_B_1 16
12:03 <spidey> yes
12:03 <spidey> it says that
12:03 <spidey> but it's not
12:03 <Lucifer_arma> oh, you had to remake it
12:03 <spidey> ?
12:04 <spidey> ya i changed it to 0-33
12:04 <Lucifer_arma> autoexec.cfg you had to remake
12:04 <Lucifer_arma> /home/spidey/colors.txt <--- is this the colors.txt from svn?
12:04 <spidey> yes
12:04 <spidey> um
12:04 <spidey> this is weird
12:04 <spidey> i think my tron's broke
12:04 <spidey> O_o
12:05 <Lucifer_arma> ?
12:05 <spidey> hah
12:05 <spidey> it doesn't write the changes
12:05 <armabot> armagetronad: davidfancella * r5713 /private/Lucifer/namepicker/ (lucifer.txt namepicker.py): added autoexec.cfg backup and fixed my own name file.
12:05 <spidey> untill i close the client
12:05 <Lucifer_arma> to autoexec.cfg?
12:05 <spidey> ya
12:05 <spidey> ok
12:05 <spidey> it's empty now
12:05 * spidey closes client
12:06 <Lucifer_arma> fp.close()
12:06 <spidey> PLAYER_1 Robin Hood
12:06 <spidey> COLOR_R_1 15
12:06 <spidey> COLOR_G_1 13
12:06 <spidey> COLOR_B_1 3
12:06 <Lucifer_arma> add that to about line 132 or so
12:06 <spidey> that's in there now
12:06 <Lucifer_arma> fp.close()
12:06 <Lucifer_arma> :)
12:06 * Lucifer_arma doesn't know why it's missing, but ok
12:06 <spidey> gah
12:06 <spidey> /usr/bin takes so long to load
12:06 <armabot> armagetronad: davidfancella * r5714 /private/Lucifer/namepicker/namepicker.py: Oops, forgot to close the file.
12:07 <Lucifer_arma> ok, now if you go to your checkout directory and do "svn update", you get the stuff I just added
12:07 <spidey> there's not 132 lines,heh
12:07 <Lucifer_arma> right before os.system("armagetronad"), wherever it is
12:08 <spidey> 125 :p
12:08 <Lucifer_arma> heh
12:08 <spidey> works
12:08 <spidey> ;D
12:08 <Lucifer_arma> oh yeah, I added the backing up of autoexec.cfg right before there, that's why you had a different line number at the end
12:08 <spidey> so
12:09 <spidey> cd /home/spidey/namepicker
12:09 <Lucifer_arma> now make your own, leave mine like it is (but do update from svn from time to time)
12:09 <spidey> svn update
12:09 <spidey> ?
12:09 <Lucifer_arma> yep
12:09 <Lucifer_arma> after you make your own, post it and I'll download it, and unless you want me to, I won't put it in svn with mine :)
12:09 <Lucifer_arma> but I'll use it
12:09 <spidey> isn't the point to all use the same names? :p
12:10 <Lucifer_arma> and whenever you change it, I'll just need to download it again, and vice versa
12:10 <Lucifer_arma> yes, that's kinda why I did what I just did
12:10 <Lucifer_arma> see, it uses all of the files. So you don't change my file (unless you really want to), and I don't change yours, and we use *both* files
12:10 <Lucifer_arma> allnamesavailable = lucifer.txt + spidey.txt
12:10 <spidey> mm
12:11 <spidey> but
12:11 <spidey> won't we have some of the samenames twice?
12:11 <spidey> or does it excluse dups?
12:11 <spidey> exclude
12:11 <spidey> like
12:11 <Lucifer_arma> it doesn't do any duplicate checking, but the only practical effect of that is to weigh that particular name
12:11 <spidey> mm
12:11 <Lucifer_arma> so if there's 20 names total, and you and I each have "Gaymosexual", then gaymosexual will have a 1:10 chance of being picked,
12:12 <Lucifer_arma> the other names will only have 1:20
12:12 <spidey> so i just remove yours from mine?
12:12 <Lucifer_arma> but there shouldn't be dupes. You should factor out my names from your file, and vice versa
12:12 <Lucifer_arma> yes
12:12 <Lucifer_arma> then we try to get mkzelda.txt, wrtlprnft.txt, etc. :)
12:13 <spidey> i'ma make the instant chat one
12:13 <spidey> ok?
12:13 <Lucifer_arma> sure. :)
12:13 <spidey> only i just deleted owned.txt
12:13 <spidey> bah
12:13 <Lucifer_arma> careful!
12:14 <Lucifer_arma> I'll put the instant chat one in svn, so try to make it neutral
12:14 <spidey> ok,this should be simple!
12:14 <spidey> watch me break it :>
12:14 <Lucifer_arma> like, put spidey chats in spidey.txt and the rest of the instant chats in its own file
12:14 <Lucifer_arma> and I'll put lucifer chats in lucifer.txt, probably tomorrow or so
12:15 <Lucifer_arma> I want to see how you've laid them out first, so I can follow that. :)
12:16 <spidey> well wtf
12:16 * spidey slaps kwrite
12:16 * wrtlprnft hugs gvim
12:18 * spidey wonders why the hell i can't edit spidey.txt
12:23 <spidey> ok!
12:23 <spidey> got it
12:23 <spidey> now, luci what you mean by splitting chats up?
12:27 <spidey> hmm
12:27 <Lucifer_arma> like, for example, I'll add "Watch out for that wall!" to lucifer.txt, because it's mine
12:27 <Lucifer_arma> but I'd put "/team INCOMING" in a neutral file that everyone uses as a base
12:28 <spidey> mm
12:28 <Lucifer_arma> hey wrtlprnft, you wanna do this anonymous thing?
12:29 <Lucifer_arma> we should try to keep the meaning of each chat the same, though. So if you press your "You did a good job!" chat, you shouldn't get "Watch out for that wall!" :)
12:29 * Lucifer_arma is going to bed now
12:30 <spidey> cya
12:30 <Lucifer_arma> maybe I'll add something that takes lets you ignore config items from files, so you could ignore the chats I have that you don't use or don't like
12:30 <Lucifer_arma> but not tonight
12:31 <spidey> erm
12:32 <spidey> shouldn't i be able to add this to my words file?
12:32 <spidey> instant = INSTANT_CHAT_STRING_1_1
12:32 <spidey> then [instant]
12:41 <spidey> ok
12:41 <spidey> i got it
12:41 <spidey> now how do i upload these things? O_o
12:41 <Lucifer_arma> just put it somewhere and #message me the link to it :)
12:42 <spidey> k,sec
12:42 * Lucifer_arma is really going to bed now, 'night
12:43 <spidey> #m Lucifer_arma instant chats - http://fallin-angels.com/spideychats.txt
12:43 <armabot> spidey: The operation succeeded.

19:03 <[Xpert]DarkStar> does anyone know what's up with athena.jabber.org?
19:03 <[Xpert]DarkStar> it seems like the ejabberd locked up :S
19:04 <Brooky> what are you on about
19:04 <Brooky> lol
19:05 <[Xpert]DarkStar> do you know what jabber is?
19:06 <Brooky> no
19:06 <Brooky> explai
19:06 <Brooky> n
19:07 <Brooky> Jabber
19:07 <Brooky> 1. Rapid and indistinct speech
19:07 <Brooky> 2. To talk in a noisy, excited, or declamatory manner
19:07 <Brooky> 3. A streaming XML technology mainly used for instant messaging
19:08 <Brooky> number 3?
19:08 <[Xpert]DarkStar> 3
19:08 <[Xpert]DarkStar> and athena.jabber.org is a jabber server
19:08 <[Xpert]DarkStar> the one where i have my account actually
19:09 <Brooky> its isnt working
19:09 <Brooky> http://athena.jabber.org doesnt work
19:09 <[Xpert]DarkStar> of course
19:09 <[Xpert]DarkStar> it's not a http server
19:10 <[Xpert]DarkStar> it's a jabber server
19:10 <[Xpert]DarkStar> perhaps you want to go to http://jabber.org
19:10 <[Xpert]DarkStar> or http://status.jaber.org
19:10 <[Xpert]DarkStar> what i see there is that since a while there are no users online and the ram usage of the ejabberd is 16MB
19:10 <Brooky> oh
19:10 <Brooky> sorry
19:10 <Brooky> lol

23:17 <mkzelda> bugfarm just drop all connections?
23:22 * spidey yawns
23:22 <luke-jr_> mkzelda: UDP doesn't have connection
23:22 <luke-jr_> s
23:24 <Vanhayes> #armaservers
23:24 <armabot> Vanhayes: Timeout downloading feed.
23:24 <Vanhayes> bah
23:25 <mkzelda> luke-jr_, its a shame you cant just figure out what someone is trying to ask and answer it
23:25 <mkzelda> instead of wasting time w/ semantics
23:25 <spidey> mmmm
23:26 <spidey> bah
23:26 <mkzelda> its cool, not everyone has that ability
23:26 <mkzelda> im sure you've got some redeeming quality
23:26 <luke-jr_> mkzelda: that's the answer
23:26 <luke-jr_> it can't drop something non-existent
23:26 <luke-jr_> so I don't know what you're asking
23:26 <mkzelda> not really,b ut keep believing that
23:26 <mkzelda> and maybe you'll feel better about yourself
23:27 <luke-jr_> the closest I can guess is that you're asking if the server was restarted
23:27 <luke-jr_> in which case nobody here has a better idea than you
23:27 <mkzelda> its cool, it turns out it was just me
23:27 <mkzelda> but the client told me everyone exited
23:28 <mkzelda> which was a new experience
23:28 <mkzelda> usually i just get dropped while everyone is driving into walls
23:28 <luke-jr_> that is strange
23:28 <luke-jr_> the only way I see it could tell you everyone exited is if the server actually sent that info
23:38 <mkzelda> now my client is stuck and wont disconnect
23:38 <mkzelda> doesnt realize its lost its lost the server
23:38 <mkzelda> just a black screen w/ Running for: 230 seconds
23:38 <mkzelda> running constantly
23:42 <Lucifer_arma> hi everyone!
23:43 <Vanhayes> hello
23:43 <mkzelda> Whats it say when you ping out from the server?
23:43 <mkzelda> Connection lost/terminated?
23:43 <spidey> depends
23:43 <spidey> on your client
23:44 <mkzelda> does it use the word connection?
23:44 <spidey> ya
23:44 <mkzelda> but udp doesnt have a connection
23:44 <mkzelda> heh
23:45 <spidey> * wejp has quit (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))
23:45 <spidey> it doesn't have a connection
23:45 <spidey> udp talks directly to a ip
23:45 <mkzelda> the game
23:45 <mkzelda> when u get dropped
23:45 <mkzelda> whats it say?
23:45 <mkzelda> not from irc
23:45 <spidey> oh
23:45 <spidey> ya it says connection timed out
23:46 <spidey> hold on,lemme find a artical
23:46 <mkzelda> just proving a point for luke-jr_
23:46 <mkzelda> anyone would refer to it as a connection, regardless of udp
23:46 <Lucifer_arma> it is a connection
23:47 <spidey> http://www-net.cs.umass.edu/kurose/transport/UDP.html
23:47 <spidey> Lucifer_arma, you get my pm yesterday? O_O

23:51 <Vanhayes> er anyone know why there is so much weird lag/jumps on bugfarm?
23:56 <z-man-home> No. Everyone is complaining, but nobody sends in recordings, so I can't do anything.
23:56 <z-man-home> I'ts probably related to recent code changes, of course, but that's all I know.
23:56 <z-man-home> Of course, I myself don't lag or jump.
23:57 <z-man-home> I don't even know what people mean when they say "jump"
23:57 <Lucifer_arma> spidey: yes, and I downloaded it, thanks
23:57 <joda_bot> z-man-home: From my obervations it has to do with ping charity ?
23:57 <spidey> you did? O_o
23:57 <z-man-home> whether they mean their own cycle or the other cycles
23:57 <joda_bot> Next time, I'll recall to record it ;)
23:57 <spidey> freenode says i wasn't registered

23:57 <Lucifer_arma> I better add a recording option to my namepicker script :)
23:57 <Lizz> hiya guys
23:57 <joda_bot> I've been playing without lag and seen probably exact positions
23:57 <z-man-home> joda_bot: yes, it may be related to ping charity
23:57 <Lucifer_arma> hey z-man-home, you want to jump on the anonymous bandwagon?
23:58 <z-man-home> I already am on it :)
23:58 <joda_bot> I saw players being ahead, being killed by players with worse pings
23:58 <joda_bot> so it's heavly ping charity dependend
23:58 <z-man-home> joda_bot: prediction enabled?
23:59 <z-man-home> Lucifer_arma: oh, wait, namepicker? You have a script that lets you play with a random name?
23:59 <joda_bot> guess not ... but I'll check ... I was using 0.2.8.2 on ed's CT Wild * server

• Design:
» Layout is loosely based on an old design by Durf.
» Icons on the tools page were originally by Royce, new icons added will try to follow some of the design language.
» Various other icon selections include icons from Crystal, crystalsvg, oxygen, and breeze icon themes.
» Other icons: fontawesome

is a site that has tools, maps, and other various items. It orignally only existed as a server control panel, but I slowly began adding stuff such as a homepage and tools.

This is an LLM-free zone. In general, I am unwilling to use (fight with) any form of "GenAI" to write code for me. So, for the forseeable future, everything on this site will continue to be written by a very silly goose (wait that's me honk honk) with some parts written by other humans as well (silly hu-mon) rather than any plausible-series-of-words token-eating machine. Even my libraries are out of date, and suddenly that's a good thing!
(Although the style has changed several times and content has been added and changed, the base of this site has barely been updated since 2015. But it Ain't Broke!)
This site is also occasionally tested with older browsers, but compatibility is not guarenteed. Although, if you have an old obscure browser and something isn't working that previously did, I guess you can tell me (nelg) about it...
