The most problematic cases would be the siser of my mother-in-law (aunt-in-law?), who has occasional depressions, but she's already living in some sort of nursery home ("supported living" it's called, she has a normal flat but can get various forms of assisntance as needed) and her youngest son visits her often. My mom sadly is suffering from dementia. Her long term memory is still working, but

It's painful to watch, but at least her personality is intact and my dad is with her and quite a bit younger and fitter. And her condition seems to be somewhat stable, at least I haven't noticed it getting worse over the past year.
