The old RV is luxurious and big and nice and stuff.  It actually has a separate "living room" and kitchen/dining area.  Also, the bedroom is way more comfortable.

[2020-10-04 22:57:48] <Lucifer_arma> the thief and his girlfriend were living across the street in the hotel where I'd parked it after I got it running and drove it home.  We got the air suspension fixed (mostly), and a few other things (the lights).
[2020-10-04 22:58:26] <Lucifer_arma> the thief stole it, and he and his girlfriend moved in.  At one RV park, they were basically a pain the ass, made a bunch of noise, caused problems, had a lot of traffic through there (drugs and/or prostitution)

[2020-10-04 22:59:35] <Lucifer_arma> at some point, the thief changed the license plates.  Since he couldn't get it registered, he stole purple heart plates from someone.  (For y'all non-americans, the purple heart is for military personnel who get injured saving someone, usually in combat, and are usually awarded posthumously.  If you survive getting the award, you can get license plates saying you're a purple heart veteran)
[2020-10-04 23:00:09] <Lucifer_arma> then he moved into the RV park where he got caught, continued to piss on everyone, etc.  They were so fucked up on heroin and meth that they were causing all sorts of problems.
[2020-10-04 23:00:37] <Lucifer_arma> Now, with covid19, we have eviction moratoriums in place.  They don't apply to people who would get evicted for reasons having nothing to do with non-payment of rent, however, but you have to go through the courts.
[2020-10-04 23:01:10] <Lucifer_arma> So the park owner ran their plates and saw that they went to some mid-90s Nissan car, not an RV, and went through the courts to get them evicted.  They had the cops come out three times!

[2020-10-04 23:01:53] <Lucifer_arma> The third time the cops were there, they saw the old plates just sitting inside the door of the RV and decided to run them.  That's when it came up stolen.  They arrested the guy, called me, and we went out there.
[2020-10-04 23:02:39] <Lucifer_arma> The girl was able to claim no knowledge of any of it, except the drug use, but not drug possession.  Drug *use* isn't illegal.  So she didn't get arrested yet, but may be in the future if he flips on her to try to bargain with his sentence.

[2020-10-04 23:03:33] <Lucifer_arma> The cops took out the TVs and computers, ran them, and none of them came back stolen.  We're absolutely certain, as are the cops, that some of the shit was stolen, but without proof, there's no charge for those.

So we got two more chordless drills, and there's a drawer with a number of chorded power tools we still have to go through, plus a bunch of wrenches and sockets and screwdrivers and shit

[2020-10-04 23:06:33] <Lucifer_arma> There's a real nice soldering station, a propane torch (shitty one).  Also, the propane tank my son bought for me is still there, so after I get the propane system working I'll be able to devote that propane tank to a real torch
[2020-10-04 23:07:12] <Lucifer_arma> because it turns out that propane is almost as hot as oxy-acetylene, when you hook it up with an O2 tank.  Combined with my arc welder, that'll put me in great shape for metalworking.
[2020-10-04 23:07:38] <Lucifer_arma> Basically, we come out ahead in the whole thing, but at the cost of having to do our own hazmat cleaning of the interior because we can't afford to pay the pros for it.
