Apr 06 14:45:15 2016 <Lucifer_arma> so I'm on a guitar tab site and I want to print the tab. I highlight everything and press CTRL-C, intending to paste into a Kate document and print it
Apr 06 14:46:19 2016 <Lucifer_arma> the stupid website popped up a dialog saying "You have to be a premium member to access this feature"
Apr 06 14:46:29 2016 <Lucifer_arma> I said a big ol' fuck you and did a little middle-click

Apr 06 16:54:54 2016 * player_42 has quit (Remote host closed the connection)
Apr 06 17:02:02 2016 <Lucifer_arma> I obviously didn't have to go that far :)
Apr 06 17:02:19 2016 <Lucifer_arma> but I've hacked the DOM in Firefox to send a username on a form that wasn't letting me put one in
Apr 06 17:03:34 2016 <Lucifer_arma> anybody know how I can put a bunch of png files into a PDF in Linux? Also, have to combine it with another PDF
Apr 06 17:03:36 2016 * wrtlprnft (~quassel@46.128.208.100.dynamic.cablesurf.de) has joined #armagetron
Apr 06 17:03:42 2016 <Lucifer_arma> wrtlprnft: !
Apr 06 17:05:37 2016 <wrtlprnft> yeah, i still exist sometimes :-D
Apr 06 17:06:02 2016 <Lucifer_arma> been awhile since I've seen you in here.... que paso?
Apr 06 17:07:31 2016 <wrtlprnft> i'm fine, just have been busy with university and all
Apr 06 17:08:01 2016 <wrtlprnft> just a sec…
Apr 06 17:08:03 2016 * wrtlprnft has quit (Client Quit)
Apr 06 17:08:30 2016 * wrtlprnft (~quassel@46.128.208.100.dynamic.cablesurf.de) has joined #armagetron
Apr 06 17:08:44 2016 * Lucifer_arma is finishing his taxes
Apr 06 17:08:54 2016 <wrtlprnft> sounds kind of recurring
Apr 06 17:10:13 2016 <Lucifer_arma> it is, heh
Apr 06 17:10:29 2016 <Lucifer_arma> all I need now is the IRS PIN they gave my wife, since she was the victim of identity theft last year
Apr 06 17:10:53 2016 <Lucifer_arma> I thought you'd be out of university by now. Did you quit for awhile?
Apr 06 17:11:35 2016 <wrtlprnft> almost finished
Apr 06 17:11:58 2016 <wrtlprnft> i didn't quit university, if that's what you're asking
Apr 06 17:14:31 2016 <wrtlprnft> I'd been lurking here under a different nick for a while (probably not too difficult to guess that now), but my IRC client screwed me over just now
Apr 06 17:14:35 2016 <wrtlprnft> oh well :-P
Apr 06 17:17:03 2016 <Lucifer_arma> I never read the nick list, heh
Apr 06 17:18:04 2016 <wrtlprnft> but joins, apparently
Apr 06 17:18:36 2016 <Lucifer_arma> sorta. Yours caught my attention because it's a name I haven't heard in a long time. A long time.
Apr 06 17:18:49 2016 <Lucifer_arma> I suppose I could search with your hostname and find out your other nick
Apr 06 17:18:54 2016 <Lucifer_arma> but who's got time for that? ;)
Apr 06 17:20:06 2016 * z-man (~quassel@p4FC16EA7.dip0.t-ipconnect.de) has joined #armagetron
Apr 06 17:20:20 2016 <wrtlprnft> it's easier than that, but the result would not be very enlightning
Apr 06 17:22:01 2016 <wrtlprnft> so anyways, armagetron development seems to be going slowly as usual, with the occasional douchebags?
Apr 06 17:22:25 2016 <wrtlprnft> and a hostile fork, apparently
Apr 06 17:22:47 2016 <Lucifer_arma> we have a hostile fork now?
Apr 06 17:22:58 2016 <Lucifer_arma> does that mean /dev/null finally forked?
Apr 06 17:23:29 2016 <wrtlprnft> I thought you had a fork or something, presumably dead now
Apr 06 17:24:00 2016 <Lucifer_arma> ah, there was for awhile. Ww forked into Tr2n: Origins, or something like that
Apr 06 17:24:18 2016 <Lucifer_arma> Manta and Destiny split up, I believe, and in the process the whole project melted
Apr 06 17:24:32 2016 <Lucifer_arma> turns out it's a lot harder to keep a project together than it seems at first glance ;)
Apr 06 17:25:38 2016 <wrtlprnft> did that fork include anything useful?
Apr 06 17:26:03 2016 <wrtlprnft> i.e. that could be salvaged instead of being mostly opinion-based stuff?
Apr 06 17:27:08 2016 <Lucifer_arma> Everything I'm aware that fork had was also implemented in the sty/ctf/ap branch, which ct|kyle is supposed to go through it and make a patch for 0.4 at some point
Apr 06 17:27:54 2016 <Lucifer_arma> except they did the brainless breaking of network compatibility without any technical reason whatsoever
Apr 06 17:28:03 2016 <Lucifer_arma> just "my side, your side" stuff
Apr 06 17:28:33 2016 <Lucifer_arma> oddly enough, we added a couple of features to arma just to support that fork, and also the ladle
Apr 06 17:29:02 2016 <wrtlprnft> were there any client changes at all?
Apr 06 17:29:12 2016 <Lucifer_arma> yeah, they had a moviepack selector :)
Apr 06 17:29:30 2016 <Lucifer_arma> that's pretty much the only thing I know they had, heh
Apr 06 17:29:55 2016 <Lucifer_arma> and since I haven't gotten off my butt and made the gzipped resource files like I wanted, I haven't made moviepacks into a resource
Apr 06 17:31:31 2016 <wrtlprnft> why not have every texture, 3D model and whatnot be its own resource?
Apr 06 17:31:57 2016 <Lucifer_arma> there's no reason not to do that, but if that's how a moviepack will be configured, it'll be a pain to change moviepacks
Apr 06 17:32:13 2016 <Lucifer_arma> but I think z-man was intending to do something a little more brutal
Apr 06 17:32:38 2016 <wrtlprnft> I meant with some config file being the root resource that references all the others
Apr 06 17:33:03 2016 <wrtlprnft> yeah, that's the reason I remember why moviepack resources never got implemented
Apr 06 17:33:14 2016 <Lucifer_arma> well, that would fall right in line with my dependency dreams, where you'd refer to other resources
Apr 06 17:33:54 2016 <wrtlprnft> honestly, these days, I'd probably want to go the git way: index everything by its hash and be done with it
Apr 06 17:34:03 2016 <Lucifer_arma> heh, ideally, we'd have the ability to refer to files in other resources (or the resource itself, if it's a single file), so you could, say, make a moviepack or cockpit using someone's texture pack
Apr 06 17:34:23 2016 <wrtlprnft> cockpits can already use texture resources
Apr 06 17:34:27 2016 <Lucifer_arma> I would like to load a resource tree of sorts
Apr 06 17:34:56 2016 <Lucifer_arma> yeah, but if sinewav releases sinewave_texture_pack_1005, and you want to make a cockpit with it, you have to break up the texture pack
Apr 06 17:35:06 2016 <Lucifer_arma> it's not that big of a deal, just something on my wishlist
Apr 06 17:35:34 2016 <Lucifer_arma> since the textures themselves would be the same for every cockpit that wants to use them, you still get the filesystem space-saving goodness
Apr 06 17:35:56 2016 <Lucifer_arma> but then again, when your server disappeared, cockpits using textures you'd hosted on it stopped working
Apr 06 17:36:04 2016 <wrtlprnft> oh
Apr 06 17:36:07 2016 <Lucifer_arma> so there's that ;)
Apr 06 17:36:19 2016 <wrtlprnft> plenty of people should have had the files cached, though
Apr 06 17:36:30 2016 <Lucifer_arma> I fixed them, since the textures were right there in the source tree
Apr 06 17:36:44 2016 <wrtlprnft> and the server never disappeared, it only changed .ath.cx to .net because I lost control over the stupid dyndns hostname
Apr 06 17:36:45 2016 <Lucifer_arma> it was really a matter of changing the url's referenced and bumping up the version number
Apr 06 17:38:08 2016 <Lucifer_arma> well, this was all still in the trunk, so it's not like we were going to release with bundled cockpits that used a different repository
Apr 06 17:38:38 2016 <Lucifer_arma> honestly, I'd place a distributed repository as much higher priority than making resources capable of supporting multiple files in a gzipped package
Apr 06 17:39:11 2016 <Lucifer_arma> hell, should probably reconsider the gzipping, since it could easily make image and sound files bigger
Apr 06 17:39:19 2016 <wrtlprnft> one semi-interesting thing would be to label resources with metadata
Apr 06 17:39:22 2016 <wrtlprnft> license and such
Apr 06 17:39:37 2016 <wrtlprnft> easy for textfiles, hard for images
Apr 06 17:39:50 2016 <Lucifer_arma> true, but if packed together, heh ;)
Apr 06 17:42:32 2016 * z-man wants to say "OHI wrtlprnft!", but actually rather needs a shower
Apr 06 17:42:44 2016 <wrtlprnft> hi :-)
Apr 06 17:43:13 2016 <z-man> Plus, looking forward to a nice dentist appointment tomorrow. Wisdom teeth.
Apr 06 17:43:40 2016 <z-man> "It may be over in ten minutes", he said.
Apr 06 17:43:51 2016 <wrtlprnft> don't believe him!
Apr 06 17:44:20 2016 <wrtlprnft> having some experince with that, I can say that it definitely sounds nasty
Apr 06 17:44:21 2016 <Lucifer_arma> does that count the 40 minute wait to get in after your scheduled appointment time?
Apr 06 17:44:23 2016 <z-man> Yeah. What he means is that it MAY be over for HIM.
Apr 06 17:44:46 2016 <wrtlprnft> as in, the sound a tooth makes when forced out
Apr 06 17:44:55 2016 <Lucifer_arma> they'll just x-ray it and refer you to an oral surgeon
Apr 06 17:45:00 2016 <z-man> Lucifer_arma: Actually, so far, I did not have to wait a single time with him.
Apr 06 17:46:01 2016 <wrtlprnft> but it definitely doesn't count the time waiting for the local anaesthetisation to set in
Apr 06 17:46:14 2016 <z-man> Yeah.
Apr 06 17:47:10 2016 <Lucifer_arma> I got lucky, my wisdom teeth grew in just fine and are sitting back there being wise and all
Apr 06 17:47:26 2016 <z-man> Thanks for reminding me of the pain of the syringe going into soft and thin gums.
Apr 06 17:47:28 2016 <Lucifer_arma> I've had a dentist tell me I should get them removed to avoid cavities and stuff
Apr 06 17:47:53 2016 <z-man> Mine were fine, too, but now they moved back a millimeter or so
Apr 06 17:48:07 2016 <z-man> So now there is a nasty, uncleanable gap between them and the next teeth.
Apr 06 17:48:33 2016 <Lucifer_arma> heh, getting old sucks ;)
Apr 06 17:49:04 2016 <Lucifer_arma> in election news, my nice little script failed to predict the Wisconsin primary :(
Apr 06 17:49:09 2016 <z-man> Mostly. Don't get me started about my knees.
Apr 06 17:49:29 2016 <Lucifer_arma> my knees are in terrible shape, too. Need to ride my bike again.
Apr 06 17:51:01 2016 <z-man> That must suffice for chitchat. Shower time! Night, wrtlprnft and Lucifer_arma.
Apr 06 17:51:57 2016 <wrtlprnft> good night, I'm going to bed myself
Apr 06 17:53:04 2016 <Lucifer_arma> 'night
Apr 06 17:53:20 2016 <Lucifer_arma> I'll fool around some more, then eat dinner and watch more Buffy ;)

is a site that has tools, maps, and other various items. It orignally only existed as a server control panel, but I slowly began adding stuff such as a homepage and tools.

This is an LLM-free zone. In general, I am unwilling to use (fight with) any form of "GenAI" to write code for me. So, for the forseeable future, everything on this site will continue to be written by a very silly goose (wait that's me honk honk) with some parts written by other humans as well (silly hu-mon) rather than any plausible-series-of-words token-eating machine. Even my libraries are out of date, and suddenly that's a good thing!
(Although the style has changed several times and content has been added and changed, the base of this site has barely been updated since 2015. But it Ain't Broke!)
This site is also occasionally tested with older browsers, but compatibility is not guarenteed. Although, if you have an old obscure browser and something isn't working that previously did, I guess you can tell me (nelg) about it...
