04:38 <Lucifer> waa, why do I have such a horrible headache?
04:38 * Lucifer needs to make a grocery list
04:53 <luke-jr> yeah, making a grocery list can give you a headache pretty easily
04:53 <luke-jr> us guys aren't made to handle that kind of crap
04:54 <ct|kyle> who makes a list we just go buy and get what we want
04:54 <luke-jr> lol
04:54 <luke-jr> ct|kyle: well, if I did that, I'd probably forget half the stuff I need XD
04:54 <ct|kyle> true
05:01 <hoop> my "gf" has not that problem, she can go without the list and get back with twice the stuff she needs
05:07 -!- CMD_L1N3 [n=robert@ip-152010165186.student.appstate.edu] has joined #armagetron
05:07 <CMD_L1N3> hello
05:07 <CMD_L1N3> i have a prob
05:07 <CMD_L1N3> armagetron keeps minimizing itself
05:07 <corewar> fullscreen?
05:07 <CMD_L1N3> yes
05:08 <antric-laptop> its a virus
05:08 <corewar> maybe another program draws focus to itself?
05:08 <CMD_L1N3> ha usre
05:08 <CMD_L1N3> sure
05:08 <CMD_L1N3> maybe
05:08 <CMD_L1N3> well..i have nothing else running on the desktop when i start it
05:08 <corewar> hmm
05:09 <corewar> resolution set higher than windows' screen resolutio?
05:09 <CMD_L1N3> no
05:09 <CMD_L1N3> set to same
05:09 <corewar> reboot
05:09 <corewar> i dunno
05:10 <CMD_L1N3> hold on i got an idea
05:10 -!- CMD_L1N3 [n=robert@ip-152010165186.student.appstate.edu] has quit [Client Quit]

05:13 <CMD_L1N3> okay it didn't work
05:13 <CMD_L1N3> anyone else got some ideas
05:15 <hoop> what you tried?
05:15 <CMD_L1N3> where is the config file located
05:15 <CMD_L1N3> where i can find resolution
05:16 <ct|kyle> CMD_L1N3: what operating system
05:16 <CMD_L1N3> linux
05:16 <CMD_L1N3> ubuntu
05:16 <ct|kyle> Ubuntu?
05:16 <antric-laptop> oh, wow. i was definitely gonna guess windows
05:16 <ct|kyle> i herd of that problem before
05:17 <hoop> have you tried with a lower resolution?
05:17 <antric-laptop> System - Preferences - Screen Resolution
05:17 <CMD_L1N3> not yet..that's why i need to know where the config file for armagetron is
05:17 <antric-laptop> unless you mean resolution in arma
05:18 <ct|kyle> is there some key binding in gnome that he could be pressing that does that?
05:18 -!- sinewav [n=sinewav@76.198.202.58] has joined #armagetron
05:18 <hoop> nope
05:18 <ct|kyle> oi sinewav :)
05:18 <hoop> alt+Ff9 indeed
05:18 <CMD_L1N3> as soon as i start the game it minimizes
05:18 <sinewav> :)
05:19 <CMD_L1N3> alt+F9??
05:19 <corewar> you installed via the add software menu?
05:19 <CMD_L1N3> yes
05:19 <corewar> bb
05:19 -!- corewar [n=Harald@85-127-210-49.dynamic.xdsl-line.inode.at] has quit [Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer)]
05:20 <hoop> CMD_L1N3: /home/.armagetronad/var/user.cfg
05:21 <hoop> yes, alt+F9 minimizes the current window
05:21 <CMD_L1N3> ah ha!
05:21 <CMD_L1N3> i needed that cfg file to see if it is the screen resolution

05:22 <CMD_L1N3> what is a resolution below 1440x900
05:22 <corewar> re
05:23 <CMD_L1N3> 1024 800?
05:23 <CMD_L1N3> is that right
05:23 <hoop> is your screen 16:9?
05:23 <CMD_L1N3> yes
05:23 <hoop> it should be right
05:23 <hoop> not sure, i have a 4:3
05:24 <CMD_L1N3> well 16:10 actually but close enough
05:24 <hoop> 1280 * 768
05:24 <hoop> I remember that ^^
05:24 <CMD_L1N3> ha it worked but wrong resolution
05:25 <CMD_L1N3> it's tall and stuff
05:25 <hoop> 1024 * 800 is definitely wrong
05:25 <corewar> i think its /etc/armagetronad
05:26 <hoop> nope, there are game settings
05:26 <CMD_L1N3> yea the user.cfg worked out
05:26 <corewar> right... just grepped the dir... my resolution isnt there
05:26 <hoop> have you tried this > 1280 * 768 ?
05:27 <corewar> ls
05:27 <CMD_L1N3> yea
05:27 <CMD_L1N3> it worked and fixed my issue
05:27 <corewar> fine
05:27 <CMD_L1N3> but why can't i use 1440 900 like my desktop
05:27 <hoop> probably arma doesn't support that
05:27 <CMD_L1N3> maybe
05:27 <CMD_L1N3> thanks guys
05:27 <CMD_L1N3> i'm out
05:27 <hoop> np :)

05:28 <corewar> at least he made me reboot to ubuntu... way better than windows
05:29 <corewar> aah of course in the home dir
05:30 <corewar> thats odd... fglrx, 2560x1024 and it only uses 2/3 of the width in full screen
05:31 <luke-jr> hoop: we were talking about males and shopping
05:31 <luke-jr> hoop: females are a totally different beast
05:31 <corewar> heheh
05:31 <luke-jr> corewar: fglrx = fail = no support for u
05:31 <corewar> go shopping some hardware with your gf
05:31 <corewar> thanks luke
05:32 <luke-jr> I don't have a gf.
05:32 <hoop> nice delay luke-jr :P
05:32 <luke-jr> I have a wife.
05:33 <luke-jr> and she sez I need to follow her to bed soon.
05:33 <luke-jr> and won't let me play freeciv tonight
05:33 <luke-jr> :/
05:34 <corewar> i have no chance except using fglrx... or my third screen wont work
05:35 <corewar> poor corewar
05:39 <luke-jr> nonsense
05:39 <corewar> really... i tried to configure it 20 hrs
05:39 <corewar> most of it using google
05:39 <corewar> i cant even choose, which screen to place where
05:40 <ct|kyle> luke-jr: freeciv?
05:40 <corewar> Radeon 9600 + Vodoo Banshee
05:40 <corewar> maybe its ubuntu
05:41 <luke-jr> corewar: ubuntu pfft
05:41 <luke-jr> use KDE
05:41 <corewar> arr
05:42 <ct|kyle> use Gentoo
05:42 <corewar> i like ubuntu... linux should be easy... i want to convince my friends to change to linux and thats not possible, if they all had to use command line for everything
05:42 <ct|kyle> kubuntu
05:43 <corewar> on the other hand, since i made it work 2 weeks ago, i am able to use linux for any aspect of my work
05:43 <corewar> so i wont complain
05:43 <corewar> even ultima online runs perfectly with wine *g*
05:43 <ct|kyle> i can't wait for my LUG meeting next week on the differnt types of shells
05:44 <corewar> kubuntu wont have better drivers, would it?
05:44 <luke-jr> hopefully both come with 'radeon'
05:45 <corewar> fglrx != radeon?
05:45 <ct|kyle> says the one without working drivers
05:45 <corewar> ah... after the 20hr session i wanted to forget it all
05:46 <corewar> ubuntu works fine with compiz on one monitor

05:46 <corewar> or on two, but only in clone mode
05:47 <corewar> is radeon the open source driver?
05:49 <luke-jr> corewar: fglrx != radeon
05:49 <luke-jr> yes
05:50 <corewar> i tried it, i suppose... well maybe i am just stupid
05:50 <luke-jr> maybe!
05:50 <luke-jr> you didn't try using KDE to configure it tho!
05:50 <corewar> forgot what the problem was with the open source thingy
05:50 <corewar> right
05:50 <corewar> i dont like kde too much
05:51 <corewar> you really think, all my problems will end with kde??
05:51 <luke-jr> well, you asked for easy
05:51 <luke-jr> yes, I do
05:51 <corewar> isnt it xorg, too?
05:51 <luke-jr> KDE 4.1 + X.org 7.2
05:51 <luke-jr> work great for display configuration
05:51 <corewar> i manually edited the xorg.conf... can KDE do more than that?
05:51 <luke-jr> at least as good as the Windows config
05:52 <luke-jr> KDE provides a graphical configuration for monitors
05:52 <ct|kyle> KDE 4.1 eww
05:52 <corewar> what if it wont work, if i edit the conf? i suppose its the setup with the radeon and the old voodoo

05:54 <corewar> i really have to admit, i am not really good in linux stuff
05:55 <corewar> but i know enough about it, that i really love it
05:56 <luke-jr> corewar: ATi is pretty compatible…
05:56 <luke-jr> corewar: you'd need to replace your motherboard to get anything better
05:56 <corewar> hmm
05:56 <ct|kyle> ya, I've learned a lot since i first played tron in November 2005 on linux
05:56 <corewar> you ever tried a triple monitor setup?
05:57 <luke-jr> nope, but dual works fine
05:57 <corewar> i know
05:57 <corewar> dual is easy
05:57 <luke-jr> almost impossible to configure by hand tho
05:57 <corewar> no
05:57 <corewar> also quite easy
05:57 <luke-jr> nope
05:57 <corewar> except that this dumb fglrx wants to have screen 0 and 1
05:57 <luke-jr> with KDE, you just plug them in and click Detect
05:58 <luke-jr> and then drag them around as needed
05:58 <corewar> xorg.conf is very straight forward, if i didnt miss anything
05:59 <corewar> afaik radeon wont go with compiz
06:00 <corewar> well... fglrx with triple wont do either
06:00 <corewar> next time i try gentoo again
06:00 <corewar> promised
06:01 <luke-jr> compiz sucks ☺
06:01 <luke-jr> KDE 4.1 pwns compiz
06:01 <corewar> but a insert-click-click-done linux is so cool
06:01 <ct|kyle> luke-jr: what distro are you using now?
06:01 <corewar> ubuntu hardy
06:01 <luke-jr> ct|kyle: Gentoo
06:02 <corewar> aah
06:02 <corewar> sorry
06:02 <ct|kyle> sorry? me and luke-jr both feel sorry for you
06:02 <corewar> sorry for answering that question, you didnt mean me *G* thanks for your compassion btw
06:03 <ct|kyle> oh LOL
06:03 <corewar> i could go gentoo, but i am trying to find a solution that USERS would accept
06:03 <ct|kyle> i started with VLOS then worked my way into gentoo from there VLOS DIED when i made the switch
06:03 <corewar> i guess you never bothered with such an idea
06:04 <ct|kyle> actually it seams VLOS is active again

18:45 <epsy> Don't drink and drive!
18:45 <CMD_L1N3> hah yea
18:46 <CMD_L1N3> anyone know java?
18:46 <epsy> ct|kyle:
18:47 <CMD_L1N3> he does?
18:47 <epsy> at least he used to
18:47 <CMD_L1N3> oh
18:47 <ct|kyle> o0
18:47 <ct|kyle> I know some java
18:48 <ct|kyle> but i hate JAVA
18:48 <CMD_L1N3> http://cs.appstate.edu/1440/labs/Lab04/act3.html <<<help please
18:48 <ct|kyle> dam this is easy java
18:48 <CMD_L1N3> well give it a go
18:48 <CMD_L1N3> if it is soooo easy
18:49 <ct|kyle> i got other Java to do
18:49 <CMD_L1N3> like what
18:50 <CMD_L1N3> what could possibly be more important that figuring out if a rectangle object overlaps another rectangle object
18:50 <noob13> ;D
18:51 <ct|kyle> getting my assignment done today before it's due date is over
18:52 <CMD_L1N3> psh..alright
18:52 <CMD_L1N3> you a cs major
18:52 <noob13> have you thought of an approach to this CMD_L1N3?
18:52 <ct|kyle> i don't have the a2 project
18:53 <CMD_L1N3> what do you mean noob13?
18:53 <noob13> not sure, will brb..
18:53 <CMD_L1N3> nah don't work about it ct|kyle. if i stare at it long enough i'll get it
18:54 <ct|kyle> CMD_L1N3: btw I have not used the rectangle class in a while i forget how to define them and what you can do with them
18:54 <CMD_L1N3> yea..i forgot over the short time we didn't use it also
18:55 <ct|kyle> you should be able to find the 4 corners of them an then see if any of the points are contained in eachother
18:55 <CMD_L1N3> ??
18:56 <ct|kyle> you need to comare the 4 corners of the rectangles to find if they are overlapping
18:56 <ct|kyle> compare*
18:56 <CMD_L1N3> hmm
18:56 <CMD_L1N3> yes. let me ponder that in terms of java code
18:57 <CMD_L1N3> actually first i need to remake my method that determines is the rect contains a point...i did not save it correctly the other day
18:58 <ct|kyle> http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/api/java/awt/Rectangle.html

• Website was created by nelg
• Design:
» Layout is loosely based on an old design by Durf.
» Icons on the tools page were originally by Royce, new icons added will try to follow some of the design language.
» Various other icon selections include icons from Crystal, crystalsvg, oxygen, and breeze icon themes.
» Other icons: fontawesome

is a site that has tools, maps, and other various items. It orignally only existed as a server control panel, but I slowly began adding stuff such as a homepage and tools.
----
This is an LLM-free zone. In general, I am unwilling to use (fight with) any form of "GenAI" to write code for me. So, for the forseeable future, everything on this site will continue to be written by a very silly goose (wait that's me honk honk) with some parts written by other humans as well (silly hu-mon) rather than any plausible-series-of-words token-eating machine. Even my libraries are out of date, and suddenly that's a good thing!
(Although the style has changed several times and content has been added and changed, the base of this site has barely been updated since 2015. But it Ain't Broke!)
This site is also occasionally tested with older browsers, but compatibility is not guarenteed. Although, if you have an old obscure browser and something isn't working that previously did, I guess you can tell me (nelg) about it...
